I think current U.S. society is on the decline.
Groups of people generally can't survive extended periods of prosperity. They get unmotivated and lazy, and when they're called on to do heavy lifting of any kind again they can't get up to speed.

All empires rise and fall. For the modern world, we have had a pretty good run but are declining precipitously now. After the next global and political/social catastrophe which will define this century happens, a new remnant will rise somewhere in the world and reestablish hope and light for the human race. It takes a world wide cleansing every few decades to reset the slate

Ok, a little science here. No we will be "died out" way before a few billion years. Homo sapiens will be gone way before that. Something will be around in the millions of years after we depart. Complex life has been on this planet for less than billion years. Just because we THINK we are important enough to be here doesn't mean we will be here. Think evolution baw!

Worst case scenario we overthrow the govt and most people starve and eventually die of. I’ve got hundreds of acres and firearms to defend it, with a knowledge of farming, hunting and curing meats. I’ll be fine, hell it might actually be a nice change, the rest of y’all I’m not so sure about.

Yep Sun is going to go all red giant eventually. Good chance we don't make it past that for very long anyway. Doubt our species will still exist by then as well.

The world and this country have the poor and stupid reproducing at a high rate. The wife and I aren't having kids. Double income to enjoy the few decades we have on this planet, see and enjoy the things it still has to offer before it gets obliterated. Children being born now are going to experience an overpopulated, polluted, starved, and generally a terrible existence in their future.

I'm doing just fine, my wife and I support ourselves unlike the majority of this world. Sorry I hit a nerve. Don't get angry at me that we have a vast amount of people on this planet relying on government handouts who keep producing more shitty people straining the resources the planet has. Eventually it will break.

Well over 10% of families in the South owned at least one slave, in SC and Mississippi, the total was near 50%. This doesn't even take into account families that rented slaves because they were too poor to own one outright. Outside of MO and MA every state in the South had over 20% of families woning slaves.

What you're seeing is the narrowing of the educated upper/aristocratic class.
Wealthier people are not breeding as quickly as poor people- their wealth/person increases, while the exact opposite happens to poor people as there is more people with less wealth.
We are headed back to a gilded age of greater wealth inequality.

Society will reach critical mass, and the boogaloo will come.
Those who can hack it, will, and the thin veneer of society will crack. The beast man will issue forth. Blood and fire will be the order of the day. False promises of unqualified equality will dissolve, the false laws of lesser men will be moot, and the ancient laws will take hold.
Those that have the sand and the grit will weather the storm. They will commit the terrible acts of violence necessary to let the better seeds of humanity grow.
It will be as it always has been.
