If we weren’t funding abortions maybe we could redirect some funds for a better cause. That thinking doesn’t get anyone elected though.

To summarize the response which generally kills this: US is at peak of economy, most educated society of all-time, hate-crimes at historical lows, mental-health and other feaux-paux issues being addressed, and people aren't reproducing as much because human sciences say getting married at 22 is fricking dumb. They reproduce less children because of older age.
If you're bitching and moaning about society, chances are, you're living in a shitty state that ranks 47th in education, has 1 F500 company (there by default; see: energy), has laughable politics, and wastes precious state resources in congress bitching about a football game.
