A long, long time ago, people used to designate a time and a place to meet when they made plans. Now, everything is left open ended as if simply saying "George's at 6:00PM" is too much of a commitment for anyone to make.

Yep. It kills me. I’m a planner. I’m not psychotic about it, but I use a calendar and I prefer to set plans.

Several friends get all weird when I pull up the OpenTable app for dinner. Sorry but I’m not standing around the lobby of a restaurant on a 1hour wait on a Friday night because you don’t know if you can commit to a time.

I pretty much live by the mantra that if I am invited somewhere casually by someone, if I want to go, it's on me to reach out and make it happen.

If I was in his shoes and it was something casual, I've probably mentioned it casually to 5 or 6 people to come hang out. If I don't hear from them, I just assume they didn't want to come.

But yea, you're really overthinking this one. Just be proactive next time.

You should have texted to ask what the plan was. In the situation you have described, this is not debatable and anyone who thinks otherwise is lying to themselves.

No, but as ubiquitous as your are I take the chance to call you out on your bullshite (which is a constant stream) at every opportunity.

Jesus man. You're really overthinking this. If he said after the game, what is wrong with shooting him a text saying "where are you guys at? I'll head that way in about 5 mins. Is that cool?"

I dont like being in huge crowds but the neurotic behavior some people exhibit about just making plans amazes me sometimes.

That or bring quarters for the payphone

There were times when I would use a payphone to let my parents know something was over so they could come pick me up. I'd call collect, say my name, they wouldn't accept but they knew it was me..

After someone offers an invite and you accept its on you to follow up at the time of invite.

I had to contact half my wedding guest list the week before my wedding because people don’t know how to RSVP anymore.

Same here. I guess a man's word means nothing today.

Well all his stories are lies, so why would anything coming out of his stupid mouth be valid?

I always wondered how people like you would have survived the mid to late 90s going out. When not everyone had a cell phone or even a pager. You actually had to make plans ahead of time.

That or bring quarters for the payphone and always remember the code to your answering machine to check your messages on the machine.

Yea, can you imagine the horror if kids had to wait for their friends to meet them in the mall without know exactly where/how far they are away?

Before I had a cell phone, I never used quarters for the payphones. Granted, the only person I was calling at that time was for my parents to get me from movies/malls/football games and would just say "Ready" when they asked for the name. We had a designated spot and time after the call to be there.

No, no he does not. If he did, they would have followed-up with her and likely even picked her up somewhere.

I just remember saying something like "Meet you next Friday at the 7pm movie" and then never having to discuss it with them again. Then, you both just showed up at the right time.

Ive made OPs mistake many times.

I never looked at it as if your invited out its up to you to find out where they are and meet up.

I always thought if they want you there, then they will reach out.

Now at my old age I wonder what life would have been like with Social Skills and just a little confidence.
