so you're actually upset about the vilification of confederates?

It's not just confederates, per se.

If we're talking straight up atrocities, seems like Jackson should've been the first target.

Not from New Orleans but common sense would tell me that people are pissed that politicians care so much about a fricking monument when there are much more important and pressing issues in the city that they should be focusing on.
One of the many reasons. The city itself is fricked. This is basically Mitch attempting to move everyone's attention elsewhere and to set himself up for a major Democratic Party position. Plain and simple.

Plus, Scruffy doesn't support the destruction of statues or artwork, no matter their background.

A naked revision of history, along with book burning levels of censorship (such as this is, the government is censoring monuments based on political viewpoints), should scare everyone.

so you feel removing monuments on city lands constitute censorship? i'm not sure that's censorship by first amendment standards but okay

i definitely don't feel that way about him. seems to me have been a great general choosing between two untenable positions. who served out of duty and conscience.

You DO Know that he was a very distinguished officer in the US Army, don't you? His father was a Revolutionary War hero as well. In no way should he be vilified by a two bit, race baiting Mayor looking to impress his higher ups at Soros' Anarchy Machine.

Not really. Hell, Sherman ordered the slaughter of thousands of Indians but no one wants to rip down his images.

I am a diehard white supremacist of course. These statues were the only way I could keep the blacks in New Orleans in check

Veteran memorials, next they will want Vietnam memorial down because it oppresses people from North Vietnam. Or shut down the WWll museum because it offends Japanese tourist..

so on the laundry list of items to be fixed in new orleans, this is at the bottom of the totempole, and mitch landrieu is grandstanding?

I have a house down the street and I can say this wasn't even on the bottom of the totepole it was a non-existent issue only conjured up recently when Landrieu thought it would curry him street cred in the Democratic Party if Hillary was elected. Now that is out the window so he is doubling down to make a national name so he can run for President in 2020. The entire thing is a faux issue for a political grandstand.

Well why else are they taking them down? They weren't posing a danger of falling on anyone.

The Moonwalk definitely needs to be renamed, since Moon Landrieu hid the African American part of his bloodline.

Because this transcends to many things. Regardless of where you live.

It's the same fringe asshats, buttressed by social media and an illegitimate press pushing the lie that this shite means anything to rational people.

Jackson even had a scar on his face from a Britsh saber when he told an English officer to get fricked.

Born and raised there.

Those monuments are artwork, landmarks and part of history.

How dare a low-lying, dick-eating motherfricker proclaim they can do with them as they please? Then, turn around and issue a statement blaming them for the city's black middle class leaving for Atlanta and Houston.
