I don't think this wonderful, honest government include fuel or food when calculating the CPI. Kinda like how they count "unemployment"

There is a thread complaining about steak prices being ridiculous from almost the same time last year.

They also told you that masks prevented the spread, Vaccines were effective, and the vegetable was the most popular president ever.

(They've been lying to you)

I put everything on a credit card and pay it off monthly. Been doing that for years. I haven’t changed my life style and my monthly payment definitely feels way higher than 8%.

Exact same here. We haven't changed our spending habits (except for cutting out a few small things here and there), but when it comes time to pay the CC bill every month, it's plain as day our costs are up significantly more than 8%

Pedo joey's party changed how this was calculated the day the came to power. It is probably closer to double that.

Inflation is easier to understand if we recognize it as a fall in the purchasing power of money instead of a general rise in prices of goods.

Along with the current unemployment rate being only 3.6%. I have never plugged into the way that figure is calculated but something is fishy.

I bet if you add them up it is at least 23% higher. These numbers are comical. I know certain products at Wal-Wart that are currently 36% higher than one year ago. I have bought those products stand-alone at least once every two weeks for the last year and have watched the price increase at least quarterly.

Salad in a bag, limited and scaled back vacations, campbells soup, very very little red meat, no unnecessary purchases, very limited eating out, conserving gas and energy, etc. That’s my reality.I make a very comfortable living but I have a certain spending ethic that was drilled into me as a kid. I just won’t pay these prices on principle.

Last time I checked, consumers buy fuel and food and need both to survive, therefore it makes no sense not including consumer products in the consumer price index. Now if they want to discard tranny dicks because Republicans don’t use them, that would be fine.

I'm not sure what is being discussed here, but the headline inflation number includes food and energy, while the core inflation number removes those 2 since they are more volatile (e.g., gas prices here are down quite a bit from their high a few weeks ago) whereas everything else is more durable and sticky.
