Doesnt let the child's parent pick him up without a proper tag, sends the kid off from school on the wrong bus without verifying anything.
I wouldn't blame you if you were at 6.03 x 10^23 right now.
If that's a big number. Lost touch with Avagadro a long time ago.

yeah I would have lost my shite. It would take me a few days to calm down. But I am a hot head. It would have taken a lot for my wife to talk me out of pulling him out of the school had they done that to my son.

The point isn't what could have happened. It's that a father was unable to locate his frickin' kid.

He's 6 years old. What are you talking about?
OP, I'd be livid.

Is Hot Carl's 6-year-old named Amedeo?

It's the first week of school. It's prob crazy up there. Be glad your son is OK and move on.
Oh, have your pick up tag next time.

Bus driver failed miserably. Driver is supposed to have a roster of kids that they check prior to letting a kid on the bus. I know this because my son goes to Dtown Middle and splits time between exwife and my house. First year, the bus driver needed approval to add him on her roster.
I'm assuming he is kindergarten/first grade which would also mean a Big time failure of the teacher's part since she is supposed to be a back up.
APSB has a car rider procedure that requires parents get special signs they place in the cars to ensure only approved vehicles/parents pick up the kids... Had you gotten the sign ahead of the first day, your son would have been placed in the car rider group. Not blaming you bro, you probably didn't know anything about it.
Thank god your son is OK. Oak Grove is a GREAT school. DO not use this as metaphor for what to expect down the road.

I would have been just ridiculous

Looks like a lot of over reactions in here. So the kid got on a bus. Who else was on the bus? A bunch of kids and a bus driver. When the kid is still on the bus at the end of the route they will bring him back. Not a huge deal. It's not like they are pushing kids off the bus into Sandusky's arms if they aren't claimed.

Again, the point is that dad was unable to locate his kid. That's a scary feeling and completely worth being furious over.

I didn't say he should be upset or complain. Kicking down doors and acting like a dick bag isn't the answer. Mistakes happen. It was the first day of school. I'm not buy this fake outrage. He's acting like this so other people think he loves his kid a lot. I bet there's a lengthy Facebook post as well.
quote:I'm not blaming the kid. And it's not like I expect him to start making his own breakfast and paging bills, but these are the type of life experiences that will breed a little bit of independence. Probably won't help with an over protective dad like Carl tho. His kid is gonna be calling back to mommy and daddy when he's 25 asking for them to come yell at his neighbors because their dog poops in his yard.

6 is too young to ride the bus. For reasons like this. If he doesnt know what fricking bus to get on, he shouldnt ride the bus. Id be mad, but find another way to get your kid to and from school.

its is.
but i think its also a situation where you make your frustration known rationally and hope it doesnt happen again. if it becomes a habit, look at other schools.

The school cared that much and you still switched. Geez man, hopefully the kid learns more about forgiveness in the Catholic setting than you did...
J/k...as to the OP...the school denied you ability to pick up your child when he could easily ID you as dad, but allowed him to get on a bus when the only ID is his name on the bus driver's list? Total BS. This is an issue with the school and the bus driver. Day 1- I'd make sure the principle knew how pissed I was. Day any other, as previously mentioned, school board time.

Well, he could have got on the bus that just boots first graders off in random parts of the city. My boy is 6, I tell him to stay off that bus. I also tell him to not get in a car or bus without me or his Mom.
Seems to me they could have calmly called the bus drivers real quick and found him...then just dropped him off back at the school or Dad could have gone and met him.
Now we got a door facing to fix.

Seriously though..
It's like 10:45 am, good time for a recess. They're all in the lounge right now talking about you, laughing and saying things like..
"I bet he's not man enough to come back and say anything else, and if he does..I've got a hell of a surprise waiting on him. I'll put a new attitude across his face. You know, I banged his wife back in 9th grade?".
