If it happened again, I would ask simple questions like
1)"where is my son?"
2)"do you think the media could help in locating him? They have Amber Alerts for these sort of scenarios. The police seem good at tracking down people as well."
3)"Does the School Board know that you lose children on a regular basis? Maybe we can attend a board meeting together and inform them."
With all that said, I have no plans for my children to get on a bus to school- I never did.

if you literally kicked the door in, you are a massive tool. I get being pissed, but cmon man. I got put on the wrong bus when I was a kid. Turned out just fine. This nice gentleman picked me up and let me sit on his lap the whole way home.

When I was in kindergarten I fell asleep on the ride home. Bus driver couldnt see me back there. I woke up a couple hours later in the bus by myself parked in an unfamiliar field.
My parents sued the school board and that nap is still paying off.

My 7yo son is an Aspy, and the only time he truly goes off the deep end and has "rain man" moments is when he's lost, or something similar to this happening. No doubt my kid would never want to go back to that place.
That said, if this is Oak Grove in P'ville, I've heard nothing but good things about the school.
Were they at least accountable for the error?

Couple of things to add:
1) I'm all for the pickup that was not the issue. The issue was the lack of communication beforehand. I was at registration for 3 hours last week and it was not mentioned once.
2) In the time it took for me to get the tag, he put/allowed to get on the bus
3) when I dropped him off that morning, they put a "car pickup" sticker on him. So, he shouldn't have been allowed to get on ANY bus, much less the wrong one.
4) He will only ride the bus half a mile to his aftercare facility
5) It was his 1st day at that school--he literally knew zero people there when I dropped him off
