Just here looking for some tips.

My mom got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about 4 weeks ago. Her bilirubin levels are finally within range to start chemo. According to the medical oncologist she's diagnosed with stage 2A pancreatic cancer; the surgeon says stage 3. I just got word she starts chemo tomorrow.

Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Best of luck to your mom!! Be there for her.

It was tough but my mom beat breast cancer.

I hope yours has the same outcome.

I can tell you this is actually a great place to start. My aunt (lovelsu) posted a portion of her journey with cancer and the thing I can tell you is that this community of people, regardless of how ridiculous some may seem, can express such warmth and give a level of comfort you couldn't expect. Stay strong for her because she'll need you to. We'll be over here supporting you in the meantime.

I can’t give any advice but you have my well wishes.

I fear the day I hear this news about my parents. Probably my worst fear.

My sister in law just went through treatments. My wife made her a cancer care package. You can google these. Basically stuff to help make her comfortable and keep occupied.

Prayers for you and your family.

Be there for her. My mom just got the all clear on her breast cancer and she said the worst thing was folks acting like she was for sure gonna die. Friends she hadn't seen in years all of a sudden visiting and being all mopey. Keep her spirits up, try not to be sad around her even if it's tough as all get out. Good luck, I wish her the best.

never let her go to the doctor by herself. her state of mind will not allow full understanding of what the dr is saying

treatment centers vary but work hard on her attitude

cold frozen popsicles

lots of noticeable bandanas for bald head

so sorry for what she and your family are about to experience, the following advice is based on our current battle with my wife’s bi-lateral breast cancer, chemo and surgery,
a) trust the oncology team and follow their guidance
b) live in the moment, live for today, cherish every second of the present, do not focus on the past or the future, think about winning the smallest battles one at a time
c) each patient and their treatment is different, no two are the same, face each setback as a challenge to win and each improvement as fuel to fight when setbacks occur
d) be realistic, open and honest with each other throughout this journey
cancer and the treatment suck, god bless you, your mom and your family...

My mom was diagnosed w breast cancer back in September. Chemo is an amazing thing these days. Treatment plans seemed to change by the week/month. The docs will treat her like she is their mom/wife/sister. Expect some tired days and just be there for her. Keep her smiling, laughing, and in good spirits and she’ll be in good shape

Just be there for her. "No one fights alone." Start a notebook to be shared with all caregivers that you use to keep all the info straight.. treatment plan, expected side effects, actual daily side effects she may experience, etc.

Chemo days can be long. She may need bloodwork done day-of (or it may all be done beforehand.). Confirm chemo orders, premeds (and time for them to take effect)...it can feel like it's dragging out. So be sure to bring something to entertain yourselves and take her mind off of it.

It's a marathon, not a sprint, so hang in there...

Speak with your maker often and know that whatever the future holds he will be right beside you and your mother. God Bless!
