We're seeing it right now with the Aussie. She's not even America and she's getting a lot more defense than Castille and other victims ever got. What's the worse is that esle biases are apparent to everyone else.

i think Castille almost assuredly was a complete innocent victim, one of the few in the "major publicity" cases, but his case was completely different than her's. she was un-armed, not resisting, and was the person who called the police in the first place

you cannot compare her situation to one where the person had a weapon (i'm talking Alton Sterling more than PC) or resisted or who attacked an officer (Mike Brown).

Not sure what age you are or if you were old enough to have experienced that time period culturally, but the OJ verdict was definitely a product of an "us vs. them" mentality amongst the AA culture at that time - and rightfully so to a large extent.
You'd also have to undrstand how charismatic and likeable OJ was back them - as much as I inew in my mind that he likely guilty, I still today find myself rooting for OJ. I kick myself in the arse for it, but I can't force myself to not like him.

Many blacks also thought that they would come into some money when Obama won the first time .

Thank You.

Blacks really dont have a community in the traditional sense. The community they are referring to is mostly the poor to lower middle population of Blacks (being the majority).

This woman was an actual victim.

Castille might have been, the rest fricked up in a big way and most of them had a criminal record.

GTFO with that "might have been" shite. He was. The cop fricked up and the justice system protected him.

We know a lot more about that case than we do the Aussie woman fwiw.

While this is common in the OJ debate there are also blacks who hate OJ because he is too white.

LMAO you work with a bunch of AA's.

I'll wait 'til later when the cleaning crew arrives to see if they are happy and speaking about it while I'm pissing on the toilet seat.

There is really no positive outcome for this case. Either nothing will happen and everyone will mark it up to another dirty cop being protected by the blue line or the cop will be charged and the black community will rally saying it's only because the victim is white and the cop is black.

What's funny is that blacks see this as them winning when in reality they were just pawns in OJ's game to get out of a double murder. He left his black wife and family for a white woman, refused to involve himself in any kind of racial or civil rights movement and kept company exclusively with whites and other black celebrities. Blackness only became useful to OJ when it benefited him. It's sad how easily duped many in the black community can be.

This.

OJ was Bryant Gumbel levels of white blackness in early 1990's. How old were the posters here when this all happened? I was in college then. Thank god it's not like it is now.

I sat in Sociology classes the day the LA riots happened and was in a Chemistry class when the OJ verdict came in. Of course this is pre smartphone and text days. You literally heard stifled screams and groans down the halls as word spread. It was before class started and the professor was late. So it was a legitimate discussion along racial lines. Both groups sat slack jawed looking at the other. A realization in my young life that I will never get it, and we will never get each other. But it was amazingly civil. Like a sports discussion almost. Lol. Like Aggie and UT fans giving each other crap.

OJs verdict was absolutely a payback for the Rodney King beating and acquittal of those officers. That's how blacks everywhere saw it. Especially in LA. White folks just saw it as craziness and ineptitude in LA DA office. And listening to a white dude (Furman) lie about NEVER using the N-word, then hear it on audio. We all cringed. I knew at that point it was 50/50.

That's when I knew it was over. The conversation then becomes, what else did he lie about? That one thing cost the DA the trial. It gave the jury a reason for a not guilty verdict without appearing to be biased.

the best line in the doc came after "The Chase" when OJ surrendered to cops, there were tons of "black support" types out around

as he was taken away in the cop car he saw them. his response?

“What are all these n----rs doing in Brentwood?"

As a black man I couldn't give a frick less about OJ. He wasn't a "brother"..

He was married to a white woman, lived in a white neighborhood and played golf with middle aged white men.

i 100% understand this

how so many black people were duped by a man who legit disliked them was shocking. this trial happened when i was a kid so i didn't really understand it but when i watched that documentary i was shocked. utterly shocked

OJ was basically a white supremacist who happened to be black. he loathed black people

I guess some people see it that way, but I think the average person, black or white feels the same way you do.

Steve Harvey's bit on OJ.

Which is a lot right? Between his NFL and SAG pensions?

I read somewhere that his SAG retirement account is somewhere around $5M, his NFL pension is around $100k a year, and he can draw social security, which I'd think he'd max out at about another $36k a year.

He won't starve, but I've got to think he likely won't ever do anything to earn much more money because the Goldmans and Browns are going to try to seize any asset or money he acquires until the day he dies.

Also, he's a murderer and a convicted felon. I think they ask you about that before you get a job.

Goldmans

That dad is a fricking bulldog.

How does that work? They can't seize ALL of his earnings, right? Is it not a percentage like child support or something?

I just love how the dad is all over his arse with anything OJ gets. Sells his memorabilia? Where's my cut fricker!!? Like a damned mobster. I think I read he was shot by TMZ or something with a Rolex or some other high end watch. Dad called lawyers. Lol. That would be my play. He has a wife and other kids so my purpose in life would be to be interviewed and take cash from him. If Goldmans wife dies? Juice better get some Kevlar and bodyguards.
