Gillette pissed off a big chunk of their actual customers.

Besides the mouth breathers on this board who are triggered by that commercial I have not met anyone personally bring up Gillette this past week.

Nike: a company who's main item (shoes) is directly marketed to black people, used a very popular black person in their add. Gillete: a company who's main item is directly marketed to men, attacked men. The parallel's! They're so the same thing!

Why do people keep parroting this bullshite?

Nike's primary market is young people. The people most pissed off by that campaign were older people who no longer buy nike anyway.

As someone else said, it's insane that people think the biggest and most successful clothing company in the world only caters to a small percentage of the population. Use your brain.

Wait till the new Jordans come out.

And what was the stock before the boycott?

As I mentioned in the other thread. With the new razor companies that have popped up over the past 5-7 years, Gillette has been taking a beating. Just look at their stock. Those companies sort of go the "manly man" route.

So Gillette decided to go in another direction. This is why everyone who thinks this is a horrible decision by Gillette doesn't work in marketing.

No one is trying to change your life or American values.. Or the world. They just want to increase sales. That's what it all comes down to.

I've never been around anyone in my life that's brought up Gillette, silent majority?

Excellent selective data here. Why don't you tell us how much the total market is down during that time frame as well

No, because African Americans are big fans of Nike and resonated to the message. Save for gym shorts, white Republicans the got pissed off by the ads aren’t much of Nike’s market share. Plus they were actually using Nike products in the ads.

Gillette was just a middle finger to men as a whole, and it made no sense. It was just virtue signaling and their audience as a whole were insulted by it. They seem to think soy boy SJW are a sizable market, but they’re really like 5% of the country and half of them don’t shave anyway. They fricked up here.

This is literally, exactly what the goal is. It’s irrefutable that they are trying to change society.

By making a commercial that has nothing to do with razors, presenting a extremely false reality, and calling your main customer base rapist bigots?

implying that the majority of your potential customer base are sexual predators who think there are no consequences for their actions was not a good strategy.

Gillette also makes women's razors.

Do we know for sure they aren't the majority customer base these days?

That doesn't necessarily mean the people you have interacted with don't have an opinion on the situation.

I haven't brought it up to anyone. I think the commercial was dumb as shite and I won't buy Gillette anymore. I just don't feel the need to try to force others into thinking the same way as me. I support the companies I want and don't support others. That is my personal decision.

The ad has over 900,000 dislikes on YouTube, its fair to say the commercial was not well received.

What do Australian gekkos or squealing pigs have to do with insurance?

You ever seen a commercial?

I don't know, but before they went on a moral crusade they probably should have prepared for their target audience (for that commercial) turning on them and asking...."We loved that commercial, but why do you charge more for women's razors, isn't that sexist?"

They haven't exactly halted that pushback over the past day or so.
