You might know my brother then... He worked for Crain a couple of times. Wrecked a loner once while high as a kite and disappeared immediately after. Damn good salesman but a better druggie lol

Pro tip:
Bring your chromatography equipment and tell them you plan on testing the gasses in the tires. Boom saved yourself 40 bucks.

I was in the market early in the year for a new truck and still haven't bought one - no way am I paying these prices when the price drops eventually.

Yeah, I agree, but deals can be had, maybe not as gooad pre chip/supply issues, but you have to work it. I have bought 2 new vehicles this year, both high demand ones, and got money off both of them, and higher trade ins. Did I get pre pandemic discount, no, but I also got higher trade in, so was pretty pleased with deals. No way I would pay above MSRP ever.

numbers are way up..."why are people paying it?"

kind of because they have too

There are dealers selling at MSRP, you just have to shop around. Ray Brandt tried tacking on an extra $5k to MSRP with a market adjustment and other BS like nitrogen filled tires. I went to Gulfport and bought an identical one with no markup.

Yep. I recently bought a heavy duty 3500. As I called around, several dealerships told me they were selling them $5000 above MSRP. Along with if you could find a truck available there was no negotiating room. These trucks are typically already sold before hitting the lot. I found a dealer who had a truck, and they worked with me albeit marginally. That dealer was 600 miles away.

Supply and demand.
They need to keep those beautiful showrooms up, staff paid, and still make a profit.
Less vehicles to sell they need to squeeze more money out of the sale.

While you were looking at the sticker and blinked the price went up on that vehicle. Sorry inflation.

Some dealers are charging $10-15K above MSRP for trucks.

The dealer where I bought my wife (no pics) a '21 Acadia added $5K. The wife got to the dealer first bc I was fishing and she asked the GM about the extra $5K and he told her basically "bc we can" and she said "remove it and then we can negotiate".....he did and we got the Acadia for what it was worth.

Tell them to prove that there is 100% nitrogen in the tires.

used to spend at least $40/year refilling with regular air.

I’ve never spent $0.01 putting air in tires. There are places with free air around.

Supply and demand is the simplest concept of economics.
Soon, they will be back to making a $300 profit on a $50,000 purchase, just to have future service business.

Really sad how some of you bash America’s Vehicle Sales Heroes when they are literally risking their lives working long hours providing you reliable transportation at very little benefit to themselves during the deadliest pandemic in history

Yeah, but, they'd only get away "market adjustments" like this with certain vehicles, usually when they were first released. Something like a new Corvette.

Now it's every car. Absolutely horrible time to buy a car.
