It does not hurt for the dealer to try and get you to pay more.

Supply and demand.

Don’t buy when the cars/trucks are in short supply.

One reason I left Crain was because I started fricking one of the title clerks. She ran her husband off and I left my wife about a month later. I moved into her double wide. The COO did not approve of our relationship. We said frick it and both changed jobs.

Crain had a really fricked up charge they added on the addendum.

They listed it as the Crain care package.

It was window etching, wheel locks, scotch guard sprayed on the seats, and a 24 hour love it or leave it policy(trade you into another new vehicle).

They charged $1500 for it.

I was at my dealership today to schedule a maintenance. For the first time noticed that the lot that was always full two years ago was well more than half empty. It's a real struggle for them to get inventory delivered. I wonder how many salespersons have had to find other jobs.

The COO had an issue early on in his employment at Crain. He hired a chick and moved her into the corporate accounting controller position. He started fricking her. His wife found out about it and he forced the controller lady to resign. The day after her last day her husband showed up at the corporate office. He went back to the COO'S office and whipped his arse. She then sued the company.

I think the COO was jealous of me being able to dip my pen in the company ink. He couldn't get away with it again after his first round.

There was another car they had. I forget the charges but it came with floor mats on the included stuff. The had an upcharge for all-weather mats. Few hundred dollars. It wasn't an off road vehicle.

Not many. They don't have to sell as many because they are making killer profit. They are also pumping a lot of used cars. Its why the used market is up as well.

@ that “distribution and pre-delivery fee” and “dealer handling & expense” fee

I’m sure the sticker price already included a manufacturer destination charge

Im more curious how these fancy new dealerships all over town are able to stay open with no inventory. When will some of these places start closing?

It did. Just shy of a grand if memory serves me right.

Haha. Not any time soon.

They are profiting from lower staff cost and lower inventory costs. It’s a paradigm shift for the big dealers.

The small dealers are holding more inventory as they have not adjusted to to new “small lot”
Dealership model.

Pre-delivery

Mechanics do what they call a pdi. Pre delivery inspection. They take the plastic wrap off the car, check the fluids, make sure all the lights, electronics, and switches work. They are passing that mechanics 20-30 minutes of work off to you for $400 lol

Dealership handling and expense is some lady that stocks the car into the dealerships system, files the paperwork, and then send you your paperwork when you buy it. Thats maybe 30 minutes of work they are passing off to you at $479

The guy I was dealing with today, didn't have a ton of respect for the office people. Said they made a big deal about adding a car to inventory and giving it a stock number. Then he went on to describe that process. You open the book, see what the last stock number is, and add 1 to get a new stock number. Write that shite in the book.

Some dealers are charging $10-15K above MSRP for trucks. I have no idea why people are buying them, but apparently they are.

I was in the market early in the year for a new truck and still haven't bought one - no way am I paying these prices when the price drops eventually.
