If it's fake, then my grandpa was nothing more than a piece of shite liar and not actually chief engineer of the saturn ivb rocket engine (70-76 or 77), and leading contributor of man-made lunar debris... almost 40% (by mass) is saturn ivb engines

Sadly...some of the same technology basis is still in use today. The S-Band communication is the command uplink to ISS and some telemetry downlink. The video system on Shuttle and ISS uses the Ku band system that has a wider bandwidth and can handle more data.
I say sadly above because in the world of C&DH (Command and Data Handling) there hasn't been that much progress. Some...but nothing Earth shattering.
Slow scan TV as mentioned in the linked document is still in use today by amateur radio operators.

Yes. I worked SR&QA at JSC from 1997-1999 and then swapped over to payload operations for the Human Research Facility from 1999-2002 and then moved up to Huntsville, Alabama in 5/2002 to work as a Payload Rack Officer Flight Controller. Did that from 5/2002 until 2/2015. I'm now a Avionics Engineer for ISS on the sustaining engineering side.

It's crazy that we actually had the technology to broadcast from the moon, but did not have the ability to fake the moon landing with a video tape.
