How much maintenance do you do or how often have you had to buy one? I've owned mine for 11 years. A few hundred hours on it. I've done like five hours worth of maintenance over that time. Oil, filters, belts, sharpen blades, etc. Takes like no time at all, and i like doing it. It's a basic husqvarna lawn tractor with a n 18.5 hp Kawasaki engine.

I can't say I like mowing my grass, though. I only do it because I'm a plant nerd and I'm real particular what and where gets mowed in my yard. I don't think I'd have turf grass if I didn't have kids that like to play in the yard. Kind of hard to play baseball in a tall meadow.

I recently got my gardener one the Rogue model from Bad Boy. I can't really understand anything he says, but he seems to be very happy and the lawn has never looked better.

I also got a free T and cap from the dealer.

I have a Gravely. 20 or so years old with multiple operators and plenty of abuse. Other than blades, belts and a couple of pulleys it’s been a great machine

The one you bought is actually what they sold as a Sabre that was rebranded to make Home Depot more money by fooling people such as yourself who assume it’s a real John Deere….

Go to a real dealership and get a Kubota.

You’ll be treated like you’re actually someone, and not like you are wasting their time at the Deere dealership.

Funny story- if you watched Yellowstone, the times there is equipment in a scene, it’s Kubota.

Wanna know why? Taylor Sheridan walked into the Deere dealership local to where they were filming. Taylor Sheridan, who may very well be the most influential person in the equine world day, and they were so arrogant to him…he walked out and went to the Kubota dealer. The Kubota people were accomodating to him and then the Yellowstone deal happened and a deal with Bosque Ranch and Four Sixes.

I heard this story from Taylor Sheridan himself.

The real 110, 1974 version. Before they started slowly destroying this model.

My Craftsman LT 2000 is 23 years old and still runs like it’s new. I love that machine more than my wife. Ha Ha

Sorry to hear your JD is problematic. Nothing is worth a shite anymore.

If you can’t fix a lawnmower yourself instead of having to pay someone, you are either stupid, lazy, or both. Probably both. Turn in your man card if you ever had one.

I've had 2 gravelys over the past 20 years and the first one ran like a top when I got rid of it 10 years ago for a 72". No frills, they just run.

I paid $500 for a used Troy-Bilt years ago. I’ve spent $20 on an ignition switch. Probably should change the oil one day.

And sorry, that sucks. Find a trusted local lawn and garden shop. Mine is awesome. Family owned and husband and wife work there every day.

I love that "self-defense" rig, but it is missing a few critical features.

It needs a bulletproof glass front shield and some solid puncture-less all terrain tires with suspension.

You bought a Home Depot version Deere. You have to go to a dealer to get the better stuff. My x300 is 13 years old and fine.

100% this. The manufacturers have to reduce costs to get into the box stores. The quality of the mower is dropped significantly to do that. The metal is thinner gauge, front wheel spindles are not as beefy, and the mowing deck is sacrificed.

If you want a good quality ZT that will last you years to come, you have to pay for it. And I'd also say that a lot of the names that aren't as prevalent as JD have better quality at this point. Gravely, Hustler, Bad Boy Mowers, and several others are great mowers. Toro has some really good quality ZT mowers as well. But buy from a mower shop and not HD or Lowes for less. They aren't selling cheaper on volume alone.
