Almost three year old rescue who I prefer to 99.9999% of humanity. He lives chasing tennis balls, going on rides, and loves Skynyrd (seriously). He is captivated by the live version of Freebird.

I tell him he’s a butthole for barking at nothing.

Such a good boy

And the cat does GAF. She starts purring and and turning her head when you talk to her.

I always call her Ripley/Rip/Rippy girl.

I like using her name but always add girl or good girl in there. She's a rescue so I want her to know she's loved and a part of my family, especially right now bc I'm working on doing some training with her bc she's a psycho and she doesn't love training.

Old English sheepdog here.

Yeah, working dogs are generally more in tune with their humans. I've had German Shepherds, and they are absolutely incredible. They'll pick up on moods, expressions, etc.

Working dogs have a capacity beyond what most people believe. They have to be mentally as well as physically exercised.

Arnie, my 5 yr old beagle, is the smartest dog I've ever had. Started training him to blood track deer at 10 weeks old. He knows when I put the vest on him and the bell on his collar it's time to go to work.

He gets talked to like he is a toddler. He knows basic commands. Just a fun little guy.

I disallowed call her a bad dog in a playful voice or boss dog sometimes.

I like to remind my dogs that they could have gone home with anyone else, then we watch the SPCA commercials together so they can get a feel for how good they have it.

I got 3, an old australian shepherd (herding dog) and 2 golden retrievers and the 2 goldens like to herd the australian shepherd around. Funny to watch but also sucks to see the aussie getting so old.

I watched a Bassett hound walk up to Boogaloo Ames before he played a set at a house. Boogaloo said "hey dog, you wanna drink some wine w' me?"

I repeat that greeting to dogs way more than I should.

Sweetie is what I call her most often and often good girl. Good is her positive reinforcement queue. Sweetie because she is so often the sweetest dog ever. She just wants to love on people.

She’s also highly highly energetic and can get in trouble by being too enthusiastic. Doesn’t stop her from being sweetie

I also have one of those orange cats that acts more like a dog. Hell, he comes running to the treat bag when he hears me in the kitchen. I have to give him one too. He will follow me when I go on a walk. He even knows "sit." But, that mother fricker can take a 12 hour nap on my bed sometimes.
