They won’t be launching rockets from Pecan Island. Best case they will be landing them nearby

I would assume New Orleans just requested to be reviewed as possible candidate for the tunnel. There's several other places also trying to win the same thing. I know The Woodlands is in it as well and honestly I would pick there over Nola if Elon

I thought both of those things needed stable bedrock

He’s building a tunnel I Nashville. I think the state is involved but the mayor doesn’t like it.

Pilings are drilled to bed rock for the launch and landing pads.
A tunnel boring machine bores through the earth of any type. It leaves a concrete-lined tube behind.

I don't think he fully grasps the problems on the surface

The problem with New Orleans is he's going to have to bore through the earth and the pilings

Even the houses are built on pilings, but there ain't no bedrock

Because it does nothing to help 99% of the Davidson county residents. We need mass transit, not low-volume transit. The state does everything in its power to tie the hands of Nashville, and then the state says "Nashville is falling apart and can't do anything right." We would if you let us.

Dozens of coastal cities have underground tunnels. There are definite difficulties of tunneling in New Orleans, but it's not impossible.

Why would Elon choose to do this in a state that doesn’t even allow him to sell vehicles directly to consumers. Residents have to go to Florida or Tennessee to pick up their vehicles.

The subways under NYC flooded during Hurricane Sandy, and there have been subsequent flood events due to heavy rainfall.

I guess Elon's NOLA tunnel could work if he made it a bit of a horse shoe, with each opening sticking up above the potential storm surge & flood levels .

The dude catches rockets with chopsticks. I think he can figure out how to build a tunnel in NOLA. Especially since there are two already in existence for the last 50+ years.
