You can joke about politics and still be funny.
South Park does it pretty consistently. You just have to be willing to throw punches at both sides at least on occasion.
SNL used to do it and used to have interesting/funny premises around it. Like SNL Janet Reno meeting actual Janet Reno. I don't like her politics but it took stones for her to go on that show and confront Will Ferrell blatantly mocking that she looked like a man.

Well that's not true. Calling Pete Davidson not funny is just stating a fact. Libs seem to need someone to be offended at all times for everything. It's weird.

He shouldn't have apologized. I thought it wasn't funny and was questionable, but if you say it, own it. Don't be sorry because someone's shaming you into it.

He called Pete out for being a douche. Pete admitted he was wrong and apologized. I thought it was pretty cool to have him on there even if it was just for P.R.

As a one eyed dude, I listened to the joke. Wasn’t that bad. I’ve definitely heard worse. When you’ve got a damaged part, you kind of have to learn to roll with it and embrace it.
