Restaurant franchise operations have been consolidating in Dallas over the last few years. These types of companies all tend to want to be near each other.

The last thing we should do is bribe them to stay again.
Bribing individual companies one at time to come to or stay in state negates all the good those companies would do for the economy anyway, and it just creates incentives for other companies to threaten shite trying to get bribes of their own. Most of all, the "smoothie industry" isn't exactly a business sector you can build a state economy on.
The only time that it MAY be a good idea to bribe a corporation with tax payer dollars is when it's a growth industry that will make permanent investments in the area. It's not like smoothie king even uses Louisiana produce.
You want to attract corporations to the state, invest in the state. Invest in the infrastructure. Invest in schools at all levels to produced a qualified work force.

They are clustering north of dallas because there’s now a full stable of executive level personnel living there. Cane’s left BR because there weren’t enough qualified local applicants to fill executive positions. And they had difficulty luring the most qualified to move here. If you don’t give to shits about LSU, Baton Rouge doesn’t offer anything.

And Taxes, when you're executive level state income tax is a big deal. 6% on everything over $50k adds up. Sure if you're the boss it makes it easier to get execs who make $500k but imagine if you make $10mil and you can give yourself a $600k raise just by moving into nicer digs in a nicer town, its a no-brainer.

Taxes in LA and Texas are about a wash until you get to super high incomes. I'm not arguing that LA is a better place for business (it isn't) but the tax argument is overplayed. Texas just collects it in property taxes rather than income taxes.

I'm sure infrastructure has a bit to do with it but our tax and overregulation polices has a lot to do with it as well.
If we want to keep these businesses and attract more, we have to develop the best pro business and pro growth climate we can develop while doing everything we can to build infrastructure.
