From San Angelo, TX. Great TexMex. Still my favorite in the state.

Francos - Hole in the wall. Still there, but haven't been there in 10+ years
Henry's Diner - Still there and still amazing
Mr. T's Deli - Still alive and pretty good
Corner Stop - Still the best breakfast burrito (or taco as they call it East of 35) i've ever had.
Western Sky - Decent Diner steakhouse, still alive.
Twin Mountain Steakhouse - Still open. Heard it's still good

Fuentes Cafe Downtown - Dead
Zentner's Daughter - steakhouse that everybody would want to come to when in town - dead
Charcoal House and Angelo Burger - both great burger joints, been dead for 10+ years.

I’d pay a thousand dollars for a sliced beef sandwich and coconut pie from Slaydens BBQ in Bastrop. RIP.

The reality is these places - if they have survived - mostly use cheap, disgusting ingredients.

I will submit Lea's in Lecompte as the poster child.

Another place in BR that was NEVER actually any good, but yet boomers constantly slobbed over, is Frank's.

Rocky & Carlo's in 80's and early 90's when I was a kid. Visiting our cousins after crabbing all day and getting to eat whatever we wanted of the menu was so good here.

My mom never allowed us to eat inside, always had to get it to go and wait in the truck while dad went inside. Got to go inside once with my dad and remember smoke from cigars and cigarettes so thick you could cut it with a knife.

Lot of family passed away down there, but we still bring my dad for fathers day to see graves and drive around old neighborhoods telling same stories each time and bringing him to Rocky's for lunch.

RIP Badeaux's in Madisonville

Spent many a days in the 80's waterskiing on the Tchefuncta, we would always eat lunch at Badeaux's, great burgers. I was bummed to see it close.

Danny's Fried Chicken in Morgan City. 3 piece white with rice dressing and a side of onion rings with a fountain coke - hard to beat!

The dinner bell in McComb MS

Best fried chicken, eggplant, or any southern food you will ever eat. Try to go when I'm in town and not driving home after. Its definitely nap time after.

Grayson's BBQ in Clarence

Fun fact, the original owners of these two places were brothers.

LC isn’t a small town but Tony’s Pizza in LC. It’s not the best pizza in the world but when I was a kid the atmosphere was cool. Old school checkered tablecloths. You expected Mario to come out and serve you.
