Small Talk and best ways to avoid it?

I would much rather just have awkward silence than excruciating small talk "what have you been up to" etc.

Sorry, I’m on a zoom call.

Give terse responses. They'll get the message.

Be polite, but to the point. Don't answer a question with a question.

Just wear ear buds at all times.

Whenever someone starts the small talk just loudly blurt out “so this morning I was jacking off and…. Nevermind”
And that will be the end of small talk when you are around.

I can’t understand the younger generation’s absolute fear of having an in person conversation.

Just avoid the stop and chat move.

Man up and engage in polite small talk. Or be a social retard.

Say "no hablo inglés".

I personally don't care for small talk but I will attempt it with everyone a time or two. If neither time leads to a meaningful conversation, they get the hi and bye treatment, however for the few people our small talk materializes into something more mutually entertaining, I have no problems shooting the shite with that person.

When someone asks you “How are you?” I reply with “not good” or “not great.” That’s a quick way to end the conversation with someone where you mutually don’t really want to have a conversation. The main reason is they don’t really care how you’re doing, but that’s just become a way of saying “hello.”

Normalize having real conversations.

Dumb take. You never know who you may meet, who they know, what they do, etc.
And is it really such a chore to be pleasant and polite?

I should have been more specific.
My OP is mostly directed at specific people in my daily life (work related) that I have to avoid because they want to ramble, make small talk, and they think everything is a joke, when I really don't have time to engage with them.
I don't like being an A-hole. They are nice and mean well, but I can't seem to get out of their small talk traps when I really want to move on.
