I've been taking melatonin every night before bed for 20 years now. I can report the only side effect is awesome dreams. No nightmares just weird freaking s***. One thing is you have to find your dose. Try taking half of what you think you might need and then see how it works. It might take a few days to build up in your system. The one thing you don't want to do is if it doesn't work to take more. It can keep you up at night if you take too much. Just pay attention to how it works on you and adjust accordingly.

Try a sleep aid with doxylamine succinate as the active ingredient. It’s not an antihistamine and won’t leave you drowsy when you wake up.

Melatonin is a god send for me. No issues waking up in the AM even on 5-6 hours sleep.

Only downside is very strange dreams.

If you fight the urge to sleep after taking ambien, things get trippy and that's the best time for sex

I've had problems sleeping almost my entire adult life. I cannot get a doctor to prescribe me Ambien or Lunesta for anything. What are you guys saying to get the scripts?

"Hey doc, I am having some real trouble sleeping, like only catching 10 hours over the span 4-5 days".

It helps if that is true, and you look like you only get 2 hours of sleep a night.

Look on line ..order Relaxium. Natural but works like crazy with no hangover, and no benadryl. You can get the first few bottles cheap to try, then it is a little expensive but if it works who cares..

I take a melatonin once every one or two weeks. I have to prep myself to head to bed early because if I don't get 8 solid hrs, it drags me in the morning. It resets the internal clock and sparingly using it does not disrupt regular habits. I actually haven't had to take one in a month.

I was thinking about trying Melatonin or something natural to help me get a better sleep. I have horrible nightmares and just want a reprieve from them. Anyone have advice for something like that?

I'll pop a 10mg gummy melatonin maybe twice a week. Works very well.

I will say that you need to stay up when you wake up (unless it's like 3am or something.) 7 hours is the sweet spot for me. If I go back to sleep because 7 hours is too early, I'll feel drowsy when I wake back up. Also, don't fight the sleep. Sometimes I miss that window because I'm on my phone or something, and then it's hard to go to sleep.

Take it based on that and the time you need to be up.
