I was having some sleep issues and I went through the VA for a sleep study. The VA is notoriously slow and you usually have to wait months before anything is done.

Not this time. These sleep doctors had me in there next day. Of course they diagnosed me with sleep apnea and billed the VA for everything I needed. They hit me up monthly just to check up and see if I need anything else

So yes, I agree with you that’s it’s a huge scam and even more so when they’re able to bill the VA for services in addition to machine costs.

At least on Resmed machines settings are adjustable at home by entering a special menu, but other than lowering starting pressure I'm not sure why one would want to make changes.

This is such a shitty take. I’m in better shape than 99% of this board and I have sleep apnea. I’ll kick your limp wristed arse for sure.

It’s related to a deviated septum and some other nasal issues for me. I just don’t care enough yet to have surgery.

Annual termite inspections to maintain termite certificate is a $250 version of your annual sleep appt.

I don’t wish to inconvenience my family or miss work to have a surgery that I don’t really need.

I know you didn’t consider those things when you had your dick tucked in, but you’re selfish.

It's either that or hire a hooker to blow air up your nose all night.

I can tell you that is a lot more expensive.

I got my CPAP six years ago. I get a automated call every three months asking if I need supplies. No problems except for a recall.

They are able to tell electronically that you are wearing it and hours it’s being worn or you would be getting calls from your insurance.

When I needed a new machine my "prescription" was way out of date. Had my PCP write a script, took it to the cpap store. Done and done.

It’s easy to find out how to adjust the settings online. And you can purchase supplies from reshop online. Enter a prescription one time and they don’t ask again.

I bought a ResMed AutoAir 10 online last year. “I still want you to come in yearly for a checkup. I don’t know why you want this machine,” my doctor said.

1) He set my pressures too high, so I had to adjust them down through the special menu (there are YouTube videos in how to do this).

2) I am in the midst of losing weight and wanted the autoset feature … not going back “just because I need my pressures adjusted.”

3) I never want to go back and see him again.

It is one part of our health we can manage and control.

Plus, my sleep doc is a full-on mask nazi. He can keep his masks and I will keep my $$$.
