Sleep doctor check up appointments are the biggest healthcare scam in America.

9First off, I'm a fat man and I CPAP. So yeah, give me da cookies.
Anyway, they make you go back in every year to buy supplies. The guy literally does nothing but check a box and approve the form. There is no medical advice given.
"Here's a machine you can only buy with our appts?"
"What's it do!"
"Blows air through tube into a face mask. Super complicated. Only I can adjust the settings 1-15 because I am a Dr."
Why does that even require a prescription? America has got to change that crap.
It's nothing but fullblown shakedown every year for $150.
Anyway, they make you go back in every year to buy supplies. The guy literally does nothing but check a box and approve the form. There is no medical advice given.

There can be some issues with people who's pressure settings are too high actually inducing central Apneas and worsening Apneas. Also this prevents people who just "think/know" they have sleep apnea from just ordering a machine without any prior testing and ruling out other disorders.
Also the doc while may just be checking the form is supposed to be checking compliance, residual events leakage issues through the downloaded data as well.
