ETA: Wasn't she raped as a child by a Priest which is what caused her to go off the rails.

I believe that's what she was protesting about

her whole life is tragic
- deserted by her parents at 8 years old
- abuse by church
- prince chased her around his house naked when she was recording 'nothing compares' serious. go look it up. this is her story, at least.
- adult son committed suicide
- she was living in a motel outside of new jersey for a couple months borderline homeless until someone found her a couple years back
- suicidal thoughts for at least a decade

We can hope her surviving children have families who really care for them.

Only for her to be proven right.

BS. She wasn't worried about altar boys getting blowies from Father Guido. She was pissed off about muh patriarchy and muh bortion.

If you didn't grow up thinking Brezhnev was about to turn your baby brother into Steak Dianne, maybe you don't get it, but John Paul II was a hero in a lot of ways.

She had an interview years ago about how her mother sexually pimped her out to clergy members at her Church. This is why she ran away at the age of 13 from home.

Chris Cornell sang it better anyway.

that's pretty sad, and tragic, I've got some of the worst(best?) gallows humor there is but considering all of that I give her a pass and will abstain

SNL bashed her hard for several weeks. I remember Joe Pesci saying he would have beaten her up.

He taped it back together - then said she was lucky it wasn't his show because if so, he'd have given her such a smack...

I don't think you'd see a celebrity have the courage to do this today. Come out and tell everyone how fricked up it was. I'm lucky I grew up in that age.

Say what you want but

quote:

1987: The Lion and the Cobra
1990: I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got
1992: Am I Not Your Girl?
1994: Universal Mother
2000: Faith and Courage
2002: Sean-Nós Nua
2005: Throw Down Your Arms
2007: Theology
2012: How About I Be Me (and You Be You)?
2014: I'm Not Bossy, I'm the Boss

But she made music from 1987 - 2014. While she might not have had many big hits, I would say having the following to be able to create music for that long is a successful career. Whether you like her or not.

I’m surprised this didn’t happen 20 years ago to be honest. I doubt anyone will really miss her all that much.
