That will be the answer once we get through the initial peak

Until then that’s not possible. So many people would get sick they couldn’t work anyway. Then when the stories come out that we are deciding who lives and who dies because we don’t have enough ventilators, real panic sets in and people stop living their lives anyway. I think you are in denial that there is some way we can sneak out of this if we ignore it.

There is no way to get out of this without serious problems. Just have to pick the path with less potential pain and suffering.

Heatom , I assume you are locked and loaded because people who are stripped of everything for a period of time get "unreasonable"

Or you got space at your place

There are churches having funerals every 30 minutes from sun rise to sunset.

This(OP) is a narrow-minded take.

Everybody will be in the same boat. There are a couple options.

1. The companies that can afford it will continue to make payroll while employees sit at home. Will be reimbursed by the feds through tax deductions over the coming months, years, whatever. Smaller companies will be allowed to take out loans(forgivable and government-backed) to make payroll.

2. The feds will make direct payments to anybody put out of work by this.

3. The feds will make money temporarily irrelevant. There will be no credit hits, repos or any other consequences for non-payment of bills. Federal food deliveries will commence to supply groceries for homes.

ETA: for those downvoting, what do you think's going to happen when the whole country is in the same boat? Nobody can pay their bills? Everybody's in quarantine? Something in the above will have to be implemented

Congress got direct payments through a decade ago

Half of them are owned by banks and credit card companies, they aren’t going to give payment breaks to the masses.

Maybe we shouldn't have spent the last couple of generations funneling capital into the wealthy.

Now banks can get free money from the Feds and the people that will get hit hardest won't see any benefit.

What’s another couple trillion in national debt at this point? Or hell, maybe they raise taxes and we all get to pay for them. Regardless, I’m convinced that we will pay for this in more ways than one.

Restaurants are gonna take it in the shorts even if they don’t close.

You have to wonder what the other side will look like for chains like Friday’s... struggling anyway.

Those are a lot of assumptions. The federal food deliveries to homes seems extreme.

We have/had a strong economy and there is likely a 6mo backlog of work for professional services like attorneys, accountants, engineers, architects... Many of these services will continue, with most working remotely.

I agree with your last statement that derogatory credit marks will not be placed for non-payment during this time. Likely no fees or interest for non-payment of mortgages, student loans, etc. as well.

Some industries will have grants, most will have tax credits, and many could be forced to take no-interest loans or close. It will be a difficult time and keeping this to a shorter duration will be key.
