I know the OT is where we brag about riches. But I’m not OT rich. I’m good for a couple weeks. Once those April 1 bills hit I got to get my arse to work somehow. This shite sucks

It's doesn't stop there.
Think about the small business/small business that will try and pay their employees while the doors are closed an no income flows in. Just like the virus spread the economic results are far reaching. MANY are unprepared to go 2-4 weeks without income, this will be very challenging for most not just those at the bottom.

That number is actually quite high for most people. We let tens of thousands pass away from illness every year without so much as a second thought to changing our daily routine. Death is part of life.

Pull the band-aid now and get everything under control. It requires all of us to sacrifice. If we do this then we can get back to normalcy in mid-May/June. If we wait to see if we could be like Italy and then decide to act, it will already be too late.
Ask your politicians to help those that need it and be prepared to aggressively BUY LOCAL once this is over. We can start recovering in June; however, extending this into August and beyond will be a nightmare.
Just look at hospital stats and medical equipment. The US needs time to prepare. If less than 0.5% of the population gets COVID-19 and has severe symptoms, we don't have the capacity to treat them. This strong reaction is being made by the folks that have the numbers - it's a calculated decision.
