Shutting the world down hurts those who can least afford for it to be shut down

I don’t really think anybody is actually considering how shutting down life is going to affect those on the lower end of the pay scale who depend upon their hours and pay and cannot afford to miss work purely economically speaking. Those people who are living paycheck to paycheck and have to live somewhere, but get evicted simply because society severely overreacted to a virus.
Think about just the way in which the fear over all of this is hurting them already, not to mention the actual shutting down of say restaurants, bars, and other social gathering businesses. Think about how it’s affected hotels by cancelling all these conventions. Think about how that loss in revenue is affecting all of us.
I don’t think these people on the lower end of the pay scale can afford a long term shut down of life, and it’s going to hurt not just them, but all of us.

People need to work to live.
Shocker.
Shocker.

How many people are you comfortable with dying in order to keep everyone making money?

Talk about an unnecessary thread and way too many words to convey a fricking obvious thought

For me it’s more than 0 and less than the flu

See, that’s the absurd level this has sunk to. Hiding in your home isn’t the answer to this.

I agree with you but the thread title is a bit redundant.

It is exactly the answer to this. Look at the situation in Italy, look at what is starting to happen in our major population centers.

With all the fear and trembling threads that litter the OT recently, I thought it very necessary.

Since you're an expert why don't you fill us in on the correct solution

I hope you're a woman. This is an absolutely pathetic statement for any man to utter.

Let's shut the world down every flu season while we're at it. I honestly can't believe that an entire planet worth of people are reacting like this over the weakest pandemic of all time.

Wear a mask, wash your hands, use hand sanitizer, be careful, and keep living.

People keep saying this but what is the situation? I’ve seen little factual info and not here say on italy

Ummm...since when does the OT (and TD at large, for that matter) give two shits about “these people”?

No, just someone who is capable of using my brain.

So what Italy tried to do initially?
Sounds like a great plan
