Local CBS station in Knoxville said he killed his seven children and his nephew.
He shot his wife in her head and stomach. He shot a second woman in her head.
We read th stopped at a second home, but I haven't read what happened where, aside from stop three when he shot himself.

This is shocking, even for Shreveport. I spent the first seventeen years of my life there and there was rampant crime but never anything comparable to this

I never said he was. Adults (gasp) sometimes use juvenile vernacular and slang. Try to relax, hon.

Oh, crap, the SOB also had a girlfriend, and he kidnapped her three children. No word where he left them etc.
Girlfriend and her son escaped to the roof of her house and then dropped to the back yard and called police. Police had already received call about the first shootings.

That view of Cedar Grove looks a lot better than when I visited my cousins there in the early 1960's. Nothing but tar and macadam streets back then

His 3 kids with his previous wife were staying their allotted weekend with him. So sad.

Cedar Grove making national news again—for all the wrong reasons. Last time it was for the riots and this time for a mass shooting.

The Washington Post story somewhat clarifies the time line.
Murderer was staying with the Brown Family, He shot his nephew there in the back as the nephew, his niece and their Mother escaped onto the roof.
The nephew didn't jump off the roof fast enough and was shot on the roof. Their father had gone to work before this happened. The perp had moved his (the perp's vehicle so the Father could get his out to go to work that early Sunday Morning..

Perhaps there are two things in this report that stand out"
How normal he appeared immediately before the shooting
and
That he had been hospitalized for over a week for mental problems not that long before the shootings.

It wasn't and isn't paywalled for me, maybe because I have Amazon Prime.

Here are some out takes
quote:

He made no social media mention of his pending divorce, which he’d told relatives had been troubling him, or that he was scheduled to appear in court to address a custody dispute. The stress that had led to his hospitalization three months ago for mental health issues was not evident to family living with him.

quote:

Elkins, who served in the Louisiana Army National Guard and worked loading trucks for UPS, went to the local Veterans Administration hospital in mid-January where he stayed for a week and a half for a mental health evaluation, Brown said. The shooter’s wife and mother of four of his children, Shaneiqua Pugh, 34, had told him she was seeking a divorce. They were due to appear in court Monday.

The night before the bloodshed, when Brown was leaving to work a night shift, Elkins, who lived with them, was right there joking around. Nothing seemed wrong.

That explains some of the murdered children's last names.

My grandparents lived in Cedar Grove for a while in the 1950s. It was a normal working class neighborhood.

Bump

Person who provided the murder weapon arrested

Not the person who purchased the gun and gave it to a felon, but the felon who possessed it before Elkin got it. They should both have federal firearms charges. I wonder when Elkin came into possession of it.

The original purchaser gave it to a felon ??, that’s a crime too. Felon in possession is the least prosecuted gun crime in anerica

ATF has been falling g down on the job for years if they are charged with handling felons in possession.

It appears that A woman (not named in the article) purchased the gun for Charles Ford, who is a convicted felon. At some point (doesn’t say when) Elkins got the gun from Ford, but when Ford was interrogated about it, he initially denied ever having the gun.
