Thanks for posting that letter
One thing that irks me about shreveport is my water bill has increased over 40 percent in less than two years, to over 82 dollars a month. Wtf are they doing with that money?

Sounds like people need to protest. Seriously. This is a damn good reason to show some public dissent

He's not wrong. I only lived in Shreveport for a short time, but the crime is unlike any I've seen. I was in Highland, so not too bad, but there was legit a shooting a day. One weekend featured 6 different shootings. Absurd
For comparison, Monroe is trying to push a new 7,000-8,000 multi purpose arena for $80,000,000. Now sure how Shreveport wants to spend $100m on the equivalent of a spruced up HS gym

Lived there for 4 years and the crime is ridiculous for a city of that size. I see why Bossier PD had no problem blatantly telling people to get back on your side of the river. They keep electing idiots and the cycle continues.

I don't think you could put up a tent that big for $80,000.

You had to have left out a couple of zeros there, right?

Sci-Port, which is in downtown Shreveport, just laid off all their employees.

I can't wait for Shreveport's new arena to draw big name acts like:
-Toby Keith
-Matchbox 20
-Air Supply
-Harlem Globetrotters

Yeah
my bad. $80 million. Point still stands. And Monroe has a somewhat legit need for it since the convention center is from 1967. SBC already has CenturyLink. It's not the taxpayers fault they built that thing poorly. I believe it's only 17 years old but it's severely outdated because of poor planning

Municipal Auditorium has about the same capacity and is a few blocks away. Lately, it has had:
Robert Plant
Jason Isbell
Jack White
Boston
Alice Cooper
Alabama Shakes
Blue Oyster Cult
Kansas
ZZ Top
Joe Bonamassa
Not sure if the new place (which I don't think will ever really happen) would be intended to compete with it for concerts, but it would be dumb to undercut Municipal since the City runs it too.

They going to have the I Bowl there so it looks sold out on TV?

This entire thing screams inside job and lining someone's pocket. I get they want to try and revitalize the city. But they need to do something about improving the actually city before they bring in a team that will be gone in 3 years. Then be stuck with another empty building they can't afford to keep up.
The daily shootings, shitty roads and failing infrastructure should be a higher priority. There's a good reason that the white flight has happened to North Bossier. The Bossier PD doesn't screw around and put up with any stupidity. The Shreveport PD has a reputation of not giving a damn or doing anything to stop crime. That's scared a lot of people away from living there.

They don't give a frick about that. If they did, they would actually revamp that area downtown that they've failed a billion times. Or fix the roads. Or do literally anything other than building this stupid g league arena.

John Bell should just go ahead and get it over with and sell Shreveport to Texas.

Wow good one. You think of that all on your own?

I'm from Nola originally and have lived all over the state...after moving to Shreveport I find the Shreveport/Bossier division hilarious. Neither side can ever be associated with the other and God forbid you confuse them.... its the same damn place just divided by a river. Can't wait for that to get me all the down votes
The funniest part to me is every restaurant or whatever that Shreveport gets Bossier has to open one.....No way we can cross all the way across that bridge and go to the walk-ons on Youree we need our own walk-ons... Its gives them something else to say.. the BOSSIER buffalo wild wings is better!
idk.. I like it here. There are cool places in Shreveport and Bossier... there are shite areas of Shreveport and Bossier..that's my take but I know I'm wrong

Like I said, I love my hometown. Great memories, great place to grow up. What it has become saddens me. But I still love going back.

The crime and education stats beg to differ.
