We'd probably find out that they also breath fire, can't be hurt and grow to be 300 feet long and are now pissed. The one we did bring back would destroy us in days.

You'll never recreate a mammoth because part of what makes it a mammoth is being raised by and living with other mammoths. At best, you'd bring back something that genetically resembles a mammoth but with none of the social structure and environmental factors that actually make it a mammoth. Their feeding, breeding, and communication systems are permanently lost.

Jurassic Park was a good movie imo.

I'm not arguing whether bringing back the wooly mammoth is a good idea or not, but I am questioning your reasoning above. There are many animals that have gone extinct due to man, thru many different processes such as overhunting, etc.
Since man is still around, do you think it is a bad idea to bring any of those back?

I vote we bring back John Wayne to kick some butt.

We can’t even control shite like Lion fish, zebra mussels, wild hogs, and Asian carp. Not sire why anyone would want to do some stuff like this other than to put it in a zoo and poke it with needles for 100 years. And that’s just sad.

Have these people not seen Jurassic Park?

So it would be the "Pet Sematary" version of a mammoth?

I'd eat a slice of mammoth. A little horseradish and au jus on the side.
