That seems like a big opinion to have based on such a small percentage of renters in totality.

Like I said, I am no expert.

Public schools may be the biggest influence on the most expensive asset you own, but you don't give a shite about them.

That's one of the most retarded slack jaw things I've read in quite sometime.

I didn't think you were a functional retard until today, but you've put on a show of complete embarrassment in this thread.

I've been saying this for years and since non homeowners get to vote on millages I always vote no on any Millage increases or new taxes. We don't have an income problem we have a spending problem.

Ideas like this fail to acknowledge that the “have nots” outnumber the “haves” by a very, very wide margin. Good policy is one which avoids revolution.

Everyone who lives in my neighborhood sends their kids to private school. Everyone who can afford to live in a nice area of my city sends their kid to private school.

So, for me, no it's not a large influence on my home value at all.

Of course it is. Your house would be worth more if there was a good public school close by. There's seemingly not, so your property is likely devalued.

How about for every proposed tax increase, there is an option to vote for or against like usual, and then there is a check box to confirm if you'd like to be exempt from the tax increase should it pass. Anyone who votes yes to the increase and checks the exemption box has their vote thrown out.

There's nothing that the school board could realistically do to increase the likelihood that I or my neighbors would send our kids to public school. Not only is the private school better, it's literally in my neighborhood.

Think about this, are homes in Uptown New Orleans devalued because they have no good public school there? People who are paying what those homes cost are likely sending their kids to private school even if they had good public schools.

Whats your point?

My point is that you failed in processing sarcasm.

quote:

Most property owners have no idea how real estate works.

Wut? You mean the same people who actually pay property and school taxes every month?

quote:

Most people don't know how tax policy works

We're not talking about "people". We're talking about property owners.

Most people don't know how bonds work.

Same as above.

I don't know how many times I have to explain to you this is irrelevant. No matter how many times you repeat it. Your like one of those toy monkeys you wind up and it beats symbols together.

Yes

Pure speculation by you. Highland Park Texas is more expensive than uptown New Orleans if you want to get into an anecdote arguement and those kids go to public school almost exclusively

Renters pay property taxes too. Anyone who thinks rent isn't priced to account for taxes and insurance is in denial.

For you young bucks, used to be that way before courts or legislature changed it. Back in my youth.

My grandmother got to vote her $2,000 worth of assessed value in an election.

Uhh yes. How is that even a question lol.

Most of the top public schools in the country are located in areas filled with people rich enough to send their kids to private.

The most desirable (and expensive) neighborhood in my city is so desirable because it is regarded as the best public school system in the metro area. Said school district cuts off in the middle of some streets and there will literally be a 6 figure value difference between substantially similar houses less than 300 feet from each other.

And we’re the idiots, imbeciles, and slack jaws? Nice to see you’ve made this thread your life’s work. Must be really slow at the H&R Block kiosk in Walmart today.

I didn't put an "e" while typing on mobile. Mingo regrets the error.

But yes, you are a fricking moron. And a mentally weak pussy to boot.

Scruffy doesn’t think government employees or individuals who receive any funding from the government, i.e. welfare, should be allowed to vote at all.

Not sure how that plays into property taxes though.

The apostrophe is missing, too, but it’s just a cymbal.
