I always fly sober, my attire is durable footwear, long pants and sleeves in natural fibers, and I have some inoccuous item I can improvise as a weapon.

I like to dress like I'm going to a decent restaurant. My parents used to make me dress up to fly and wear a clip on tie. (I often flew UM to AUS from MSY from 6-12)

I typically fly in khaki shorts, a PFG shirt, and Sperrys. I don't have to take my shoes off at TSA because I have PreCheck like a civilized person.

The only thing that bothers me on a plane is people taking their shoes off. Other than that I couldn’t care less if you are in pajamas or a 3 piece suit

It's an offshoot of the "put your blinker on as you're changing lanes" clan.

Which is closely related to the people that charge the elevator as soon as the doors open before allowing people to exit.

frick no.

They charge me for every piece of luggage I check. I'm paying taxes and fees for God knows what when I purchase my ticket. I'm treated like a fricking farm animal trying to get through security (thank god for TSAPrecheck). I can't bring any drinks or food with me through security but they sure as frick are ready to rape my wallet on the other side of security when I want a snack. Planes are constantly running late. Stewards don't give a shite about passengers any longer. I'm squeezed into a miniature seat and charged an arm and a leg for shitty wifi.

And you want me to dress up for this occasion? Really? TFOH. I mean I don't personally go as a slob but I wholly support anyone who feels they should be as comfortable as possible for a day of dealing with airports and airlines.

Perhaps if the airlines would consider giving me a seat larger than an infant carrier, and provide the kind of service they provided back in the day

If they did this it would price out 95% of the population like it was back in the day.

The root cause of this issue is that flying is now open to the masses, and thus you have to deal with being treated like one of the mass. Flying commercial is no longer a luxury

My last year flying a lot, I did 140ish thousand miles. The majority of those were in flip flops and only carrying a 20 year old booksack as a carryon.

Sorry. Not sorry.

Also not sorry that I don't need a seatbelt extender but my shoulders spill into seats on each side of me.

The real question is why would you care what your fellow southwest flyer is wearing?

I really don't, and didn't say I did. But since the topic came up, I was wondering why anyone would want to.

As long as you keep your nasty arse feet away from me I don't care.

Whenever I'm in an airport I often think to myself, "how do all these people afford to fly?" I guess most can't and it will just go on a credit card that will more than likely, will never be paid for.

Flying lately has made me want to exit civilization.

People just walk/stand around like idiots in the middle of concourse walkways, staring at phones. Fat, awfully dressed people everywhere. People playing "music" and having phone "conversations" on speaker. Eating disgusting food. And now on every single flight people behind me get up and try to exit plane ahead of me and others even when I know there's no connection they may miss.

I'm so over it that I've decided to just drive (R/V if long) from now on, unless going abroad.

JerseyTiger once said about people in airports: "Wholly unimpressive."

ETA: and about 90% of the time I'm next to a large person. I'm 6' and have a non-small structure (but no excess body fat), and I stay squarely in my space and never hog the arm rest. Can not a single other member of society ever return the favor? Also, there should be some system where everyone puts in height/weight and be assigned seats next to differently sized passengers.

It's not 1965 anymore.

In addition to giving you the amenities and comforts of a flying Greyhound bus, most routes are also pretty competitively priced.

My Frontier flights between Denver and Missoula are cheaper than the short Uber ride to my house. That's why. Miserable. I need to get OT rich so I can at least fly first class and never even be tempted to fly a budget airline again.

The cost of ticket and airline doesnt really seem to matter.

I see equal trash spread around all airlines.
