I have customers in the pallet manufacturing sector and the corrugated fiberboard (carboard boxes) sector. While margins are good in both spaces, both are down 20-30%, as compared to 2023, in demand for their products. That is why some businesses are seeing shortened delivery times.

Hell, I just got a phone off Swappa shipped USPS signature receipt. Got it 2 days earlier than the estimated delivery date. From NYC to Funroe by USPS delivery receipt required took 3 days.
I am getting Amazon delivery in 2 days and WM shipping only items the same day if ordered before about 11am. (WM FedEx’d 2 coin batteries for key fobs same day delivery last week)

ive noticed this as well. Even on Amazon if something says 7-10 days away, i get an email later that day that says its coming tomorrow or at worst in two days.
Im not far from getting damn near everything on amazon. I have a whole foods 15 minutes away and just tried Amazon fresh. Had some grass-fed filets and groceries delivered in 90 minutes.

Sorry you live in a shithole

Bought wife some surprise pajamas, opted for the 7 day delivery. Received in two days (the 2 day option was an additional $25!)
Bought a part for a vehicle late Saturday, website estimated a little over a week. I'm receiving tomorrow. Once again, I didn't pay for express shipping.
Amazon Prime is 1 day delivery for tons of junk these days.
Moral of this story, God BLESS America and don't pay extra for expedited shipping. You're gonna get fast regardless.
I also got your wife a surprise, but it took 9 months to deliver.

Conversely, my last three Prime 2-day orders took 7 days.

I live in West Houston. Ordered a phone case for my girlfriend 10 PM one night last week and we had it by lunch the next day. (Amazon)
I ordered a supplement from another vendor last month, USPS lost the delivery and simply told me ‘nah, we delivered it. We asked the mailman and he said he remembers. Out of luck. Keep in mind, my packages come to a locker. It was not stolen. They lost it quick though, I got the delivery confirmation in 2 days, just no package.

I dropped Prime after having the opposite problem. When I bought something it would tell me it will be there in 2 days and then on day 2 I would invariable get a message saying my shipment was delayed and it would be a few more days. It happened several times in a row and I just got fed up and cancelled.
This was last year,

Landfill fodder as far as the eye can see.

Where do you live?
I’m just outside Baton Rouge and we have a distribution center there but I still often run into delivery issues.

Yep. Ordered a couple things for my smoker on Thursday night of last week and it was delivered yesterday (Sunday) afternoon. Only paid for regular shipping.

Hell, I could order crab boil on Amazon right now and get it this afternoon. Same for a lot of other items.

About 90% of ours have gone from about 2 days to 3 or 4. It is still amazingly quick but not what it was prior to 2020.
We have a warehouse about 2 miles from the house....we can order and pick up in less than 2 hours on just about anything. Don't do it often because we seldom need anything that quick but we have done it....

That’s why there are warehouses all over the country now. Stuff is being shipped shorter differences now.
Amazon warehouse near us told me a year or so ago that when you look at something on Amazon if it is not in your local warehouse it is shipped there because odds are you or someone else is going to order it. That is amazing to me LOL.

When I'm driving through Wyoming ranch country or similar and see a house way out on the boonies, I often wonder if the UPS and FedEx drivers hate them, or perhaps enjoy a long drive to break up the day.
They have less deliveries and way less strain having to get in and out of the truck all day. You shouldn’t feel bad for them, you should feel bad for the drivers in the cities dealing with traffic and constant unloading throughout the entire day

I’m always amazed by overnight shipping. It’s just crazy how it can be logistically possible. The law firm I’m in does real estate closings and we often have to ship original loan closing documents back to the lender via next day shipping. Rarely do we ever have a problem with it getting there. We can ship a package out of the Birmingham area to somewhere across the country and the package makes it despite having to fly on multiple flights and ride in multiple trucks.

I ordered some parts for my old classic truck last month on EBay from a manufacturer in Florida .
Lazy arse sat on it for a week before he brought it to the post office to be shipped.
He originally promised a 4 day delivery .
Tracked the package from Gainesville to Memphis , then to Dallas ,then to Houston ,finally then to damned Badden Rouger.
It took 2 1/2 weeks.

Walmart + is same day delivery for $89/yr??
How can they do that if there's thousands of customers??

From the Amazon perspective, one of the more incredible things to me is the return shipping. Not only am I getting it in a day or two (Houston area), but I return a decent amount of stuff no questions asked. I will impulse buy on Amazon sometimes then find it cheaper elsewhere.
I realize I pay for Prime, so I'm paying something, but also order a ton. And now they are paying for the trucking to ship the stuff back as well.

As someone else mentioned, the economy is slowing down. Which was inevitable and long overdue.
