Sherpa guide was found crawling to base camp on Mount Everest a week after he went missing, and was reunited with his family who had given up hope he would return.
Dawa Sherpa was last seen around May 29 descending the mountain, but he did not make it to base camp even though his client did. The pair were among the last climbers on the mountain as the climbing season came to an end and the route was dismantled.
Dawa was located by a cleaning crew Thursday morning as he was crawling down the snowy slopes around the Khumbu Icefall, just above base camp, said Pemba Sherpa of 8K Expeditions, which was coordinating the search.
He was quickly carried down to safety and given food and water. A rescue helicopter flew him to HAMS Hospital in Kathmandu, where his wife and daughter, who had already begun funeral rituals for him, were waiting.

Hard to beat Tom cruise taking off his wetsuit at the bottom of the arctic ocean and swim up but still impressed

Do you think he pulled a Bear Grylls and drank his own pee?

Somethings fricky.

Cleaning crew doing work. Sounds like maybe Hazel should be leading the expeditions.

That’s crazy that pipsqueaks like Darby Allin made it up and down Everest, but skilled sherpas sometimes bite it or nearly do

How ironic is it that a guy named Sherpa became a Sherpa?

He didn’t make it back to base camp but his client did….and no one went searching for the guy? That is kind of fricked up.

Everest is pure Darwinism. You have climbers stepping over people who are literally dying.

Sometimes you just do what you think you have to do

Ain't nobody saving you on Everest. I read Into Thin Air and once you get to a certain point it's every man for himself. You'll get help if it's something simple but trying to rescue the weak link can get everyone killed.

I think that most sherpas have the surname "Sherpa."

That's the gig. They all know the risk when they become a sherpa. If you get left behind, you get LEFT behind. They can search for you...while they are prepping the course for more climbers. Other than that...you belong to the mountain.
