If concerned citizens worked with Sid, and had his backing, this curfew could be lifted altogether.

Private patrols are the answer here, once again.

The last thing they need to be worried about you arse-clowns at Bogie's drinking and driving.

So if you're against government overstep, you're going to drink and drive?

Why should those local businesses have to lose money and be forced to shut down early?

The law enforcement has had its work cut out for the over them past few days, man.

Apparently not between 10-6 the past few nights at the expense of local businesses.

If they lift the curfew, they'll have to put more officers in areas that are more likely to be looted...

Where was the huge looting problem before the curfew was put in place?

Spreading them too thin

Except that Baton Rouge seems to actually be against it.

We're not even a week into this thing

So after a week is when it becomes unacceptable to restrict commerce and restrict the rights of the citizens?

quit your bitching about a 12:00 curfew.

Well first off, it has been 10 until today, which is ridiculous. 2nd, where is the evidence of the rampant looting

I'm guessing the only folks whining about it, are less than 30, probably don't own a house, and want to go get drunk tonight. Which is fine.

Right, wrong, would have gotten drunk at home anyway

quote:

There's a lot of folks in this parish that are working their butts off to gut and clean their homes and their friend's homes. The last thing they need to worry about are looters.

Cleaned and gutted two houses while also going to work this week. Im not worried about looters because that is .00001% of the population in BR. And most everyones shite got destroyed, there aint much left to loot.

If this is bothering you so badly, go help someone rip out carpet and sheetrock for several hours, and maybe you'll feel like getting some shuteye about midnight.

Been doing it. Again, has nothing to do with the curfew.

Less shite he has to worry about when his department is already spread thin.

His department doesn't respond to calls within BR city limits. His department also received volunteers officers to go on uniform patrol after the shooting. Where are these volunteers?

And again, the whole reason for this is because Sid didn't get his way with Kip.

Hopefully, their efforts are working.

What do you want to do so bad after midnight?

can see how it's absurd to a lot of people for people who were not affected by the flood (such as myself)...but maybe I'm in a small minority that thinks this is actually necessary. Not all of EBR needs it, but there's no way to put a curfew on parts of EBR and not others. Certain parts of EBR definitely need it.

A curfew isn't needed. Especially a week after. Houston and more specifically Cypress came out just fine without one back in April when we had widespread flooding.

Some people would like to work and some businesses would actually prefer not to lose more money.

Ok smarty pants. What happens when I get pulled over for being out past curfew and the police chose not to believe me?

They didn't have rampant looting the three days before the curfew was enacted.

I'm over 30, own a house, and have no plans to go out and get drunk tonight because as soon as I am off work I have friends to go help that flooded.

And I think this Parish-wide curfew is full retard and doing more harm than good. Why shut down a portion of our city's economy over a few miscreant looters who aren't going to be stopped by a curfew anyway.

I have no problem with people who are going to work being out during curfew but it's a slippery slope to start lessening the curfew at such a crucial time with a very target rich environment. The sherrifs have only so much manpower...even with the cicitizens groups at their disposal..most of those folks are worrying about their own homes right now

If anyone is ready to run Baton Rouge, and knows it like the back of his hand, it's Greg Merriweather.

I can see him making a run at Kip, or Sid during the next election cycle.

Private patrols in the areas that were flooded that already have a heavy police presence.

There is this other law enforcement agency BRPD.

It was addressed in last nights thread that people going to and from work are not affected by the curfew.

They'll just go hang out in empty bars and casinos?
