Bert and Ernie have been on the show since it started in 1969, and there's always been speculation about the true nature of their relationship

Has there?

Yes....this and speculation about Peppermint Patty being a lesbian.

Because sexuality is not something that we need to be discussing with fricking kindergarteners. That’s why.

And furthermore, over 80% (maybe closer to 90%) of all couples out there are heterosexual couples. So the children see that all around them. It’s not such a freak thing to explain as seeing a gay couple being intimate to a child.

You're not understanding what I'm saying. What's sexual about that? Nothing. Is there anything sexual about a male/female relationship? No. There isn't a difference between two men loving each other, two women loving each other, or a man and a woman loving each other. You're the one who is adding the sexual context. That child isn't thinking about the two men fricking each other in this situation, you are.

Certain part. Meanwhile, other parts just elected to be led by a guy who tried to sell steaks via the mail.

So did Kami get it from unsafe sex, or dirty needles?

Just the conversation one needs to have with their 5 year old.

Shouldn't have one or both of them died of AIDS since they were doing gay stuff before 1980.

When did Sesame Street become about sex?

I mean that as, why does it matter what sexuality any of the puppets are. Can't they just be seen as friends with no strings attached. Love each other?

What must it be like to get mad that some people are gay? Has to be exhausting.

Mark Saltzman, who joined the "Sesame Street" crew in 1984, cleared it all up by telling Queerty he wrote Bert and Ernie as a gay couple.

Wait. So did he rent out their likenesses to Sesame Street for 15 years?

ETA: I read that as he created them. I guess he's saying that they were never supposed to have any sexual orientation and he decided to give them one when he got there?

You’re right. We shouldn’t care hat a children’s show is forcing toddlers and kindergarten aged students to confront the complicated and confusing topic of sexuality. We should just shut up and take it right?
