That's the point they aren't. Ones organized, one isn't. He'll it even got some mileage in Avenue Q as a plot point where one was gay and the other wasn't.

Kami was brought in so kids in Africa who contracted AIDs via mom or rape, which unfortunately ties into mom as either she sold you or born from it, would have a relatable character. Since y'know everyday life over there ever since a monkey knocked the bottom out of a gay canadian airline steward.

I was reading a recent article about the early years of GRID/AIDS a few months ago. They went into the Patient Zero details and came to the conclusion that the Air Canada steward commonly believed to have brought HIV to America, while certainly promiscuous and an early victim, was not the first case of HIV/AIDS in the US.
This Bert and Ernie situation is an entirely different matter. I always thought Bert and Ernie met in Nam while serving in Corps. They rotated back to CONUS together and were discharged around the same time. Because they had forged an unbreakable bond as brothers in the rice paddies and jungles of Indochina, and because of the exorbitant rental rates on Seasame Street, the moved in together as a matter of fiscal practicality. I don't know where all this gay shite comes from.

First of all, I've never seen "I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry" and not because I have an issue with same sex marriage. I've enjoyed some of Adam Sandler's movies (Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, Just Go With It) and thought that Kevin James was funny in "King of Queens." That being said, I have serious concerns that watching those two knuckleheads in the same movie could cause adverse effects to my intellect. So no Chuck and Larry viewing for me.
However, based on previews, I was led to believe that the Chuck and Larry characters are some type of civil servants who conspire to perpetrate some type of insurance fraud by pretending to be gay. This is nothing like Bert and Ernie. They're just two vets trying to re-acclimate to "The World" and get by on their meager VA benefits. Nothing gay about that.

Not sure if this has been covered in this thread yet, but the SEsame Street Bert and Ernie are well knowned to be named after 2 characters in the movie It's a Wonderful Life.

Because deviants always, always, always, want more people to be like them, and others to have the impression that they’re MANY more like them.
