People become acclimated to prison and it becomes home. They don't suffer much.

They make friends, have entertainment, etc.

Some states do not have the death penalty. It’s the state’s right to decide whether they want the death penalty or not.

They should reinstate it. Like OP said, putting someone in prison for the rest of their lives doesn’t make a lot of sense. We’re paying to keep someone alive that isn’t fit to live with the public or be a productive member of society ever again

I don’t believe in the death penalty because of the whole “thou shalt not kill” thing but these kinds of people should be sleeping in tents and doing hard labor for the rest of their lives.

Hopefully the general population will handle this problem for us.

If "Mayor of Kingstown" is to be believed.....

Wrong. So wrong.

Slaves did nothin wrong. They were forced into that crap.

Criminals are criminals. You want 3 hots and a cot and AC? Go build some roads.

Everyone agrees the government mostly sucks, yet a lot of people are okay with giving them the right to kill it's own citizens. Spare me the "jury of your peers are actually doing it" garbage, we as a society shun the jury process and anyone who is able tries to get out of it.

Carving out an exception for those we don't like and hiding under the guise of only for the convicted is still slavery. And coincidentally mass incarceration exploded after this. Hmm.

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

It's still slavery. You are okay with because it is those filthy "others" that you are above. And you would never find yourself wrongly convicted or anything since you are a better.

Prison is time out for adults, except you get to watch tv and work out.

It isn't. I have a solution. Let the victims family pick out a family member of the killer and make him\her watch their death.

Am I missing something in your argument here? Didn't you just contradict yourself?

Still love this argument.

Look it up when you can. Death sentences, in the long run, cost more than incarceration.

Maybe people who have actually been to prison need to speak on this.

Have you ever been to a maximum security prison and visited with the "others"?

I used to work at Angola in the 90's in Classification. 99% of the incarcerated can never be rehabilitated. I had shite thrown at me. Saw an inmate slam his dick in a Sheetmetal lockbox. Inmates kill one another over a punk. Most of the inmates that were there had a life or natural life sentence. Most had committed so many crimes its unfathmable.

Prisoners should be out picking up trash and working on garbage trucks.
It is ridiculous that we have to pay businesses to pick up garbage.
Make them work for “us” since we are giving them free room and board.

I no longer support it because the state has sentenced too many people that were later exonerated.
