SELA weather from the POV of linemen here from other places restoring power

Two different friends had two separate conversations with linemen crews, one crew from Pennsylvania and the other from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Both groups were very appreciative of the hospitality they’ve received, but both friends gave me the exact same quote for what they said about the weather.
“How do people live in this?”
This was before the relief we got yesterday. I’m sure we would have a similar thing to say if we were up there in January, but I found it funny.

I’d rather the 2 months of high heat than their crappy winter months

I met a guy who lived in interior Alaska and had previously lived on the UP of Michigan. He said the UP winters were worse.

It’s pretty easy, I’m not built to live in their winters. I like being able to play golf and do things year round and I’m sure as shite not golfing in their winters

The UP gets more snow, but its not colder, and winter lasts far longer in the interior.
Now Anchorage, that would be correct.

Both extremes suck. You live in one long enough you get accustomed to it and it makes the other extreme seem impossible.

The weather here from June to October is just down right disrespectful. My parents have property in East TN and I was up there in late June. You can actually sit out on the deck of the house during the day and not sweat but the entire time we were up there their neighbors were absolutely dying from the "heat". It is all what you are used to. The morning we left to come back here it was like 58 degrees in July. My father has already said once he retires we will not see him down here from May to October.

Had a boss from Michigan.. Her comment about the weather was "The Extremes". She lived here for about 12 years and saw the hottest of the hot and the coldest of the cold (for New Orleans). We had a real stretch of cold weather and she was bitching about how cold she was..

As a life long resident of south LA, I too would like to go where ever there's only two months of high heat

July- Sept are terrible for getting anything done outside.
But I lived in the upper Midwest for a few years. Snow pilled up from late November-March sucks donkey balls. After a few weeks that constant stinging wind gets fricking old.

Lol 2 months.
More like half of May, June, July, August, September, and half of October. That's 5 months.

A cold wet day in south lousiana is pretty rough. Had friends from PA comment how cold it was to them.

Nearly a decade of Chicago winters made me welcome (well, not quite...but accept) Louisiana summers.
Beyond stinging wind and misery, there's something about the lushness here I didn't appreciate it until everything was cold and gray.

May and June or tolerable October is not very seasonal for us but it’s not usually hot. Last year the first weekend of October was almost cold.
July August Sept is insufferable though

The second half of May is when the oven turns on. It’s like you can feel the switch flip. June is never tolerable. October is a toss up. Some years October is hot and some it’s tolerable. It’s been common recently to have a game in Tiger Stadium over 90 degrees in October.

I have spent time in Wisconsin. Nah, dawg. You can’t hide from the cold. Have to embrace it bro.
