I'm not going to ghost them. But I also came in during the middle of a pay period and haven't been paid yet.

Everyone knows gay porn pays more than straight porn, he deals with the situation all the time.

I had an identical situation happen to me a while back. It sucked, but I simply accepted the new job and had to disappoint my new employer. I dreaded the conversation, it sucked, but I wouldn’t do it any differently if I could go back.

Just treat them how you’d want to be treated. Honesty and sincerity are the best policy. Even the “bridge I burned” really wasn’t a bridge burning since I never worked for them and was polite, but they definitely probably won’t fly me up on an interview on their dime and certainly not for an all day interview. I think the later was more the case and they probably told the other candidates running for the position they didn’t get the job at the point I was doing my final interview with them. I was pretty confident going up there for an all day interview was merely a formality (which it really was), so I was surprised I didn’t get the offer at the end of the day. 3 people were at the interview, so I don’t blame them for being slightly pissed about me not accepting the job. That being said if they offered me the job that day, I would have signed the paper there, refuse my current position saying that I just signed onto another job, and my life would be completely different and likely more miserable than it is now. I’m pretty fricking confident that I would have been laid off due to this pandemic if I went there.

Well, without knowing what he does and where he lives, then I can't answer that.

But if what he does is somewhat specialized and the market he lives in is tough...then you never know.

In Afghanistan a colonel asked me to do something unethical and I refused. I was a major at the time and was sure I would never cross paths with him again. My response was borderline disrespectful.

He later was promoted to major general and I interacted with him multiple times over the balance of my career.

Rummy’s advice is sound.

I agree and it's the proper way to handle it.

I hope none of your jobs involve the slightest amount of confrontation. This is like a 1 of 1000 on that scale and youre wanting to avoid it.

The OT would walk away without explanation.

What you should do is give them notice or offer to give notice and don't burn a bridge. Let them know the situation and the timing.

Just tell them you got the covid and take you 14 days off to work at the new job and see which one you want.
