Being a racist isn’t OK in my opinion. Using racist language with co-workers isn’t OK in my opinion. I hope that is clear. If you find my standard unreasonable, I’m ok with that.
Got to say seems pretty reasonable
I would fire for the slur or how she spelled it

You want to post another story with different facts, I can react to that differently.
That story would have to be made public. Keep ducking the obvious double standard though.

I don’t need to impose a hypothetical to deflect for this racist. I’m ok letting her be who she chose to be.
Wouldn't want you to have to acknowledge your hypocrisy.

It should be handled internally and not blasted to all the media.

Is the implication here that black people are texting racial slurs to white coworkers and it's being covered up?

That's probably because cracker isn't even a racial slur.

No, it's that it is not a newsworthy event. Just like this shouldn't be a newsworthy event.

The recipient doesn’t, you’re correct. I still
Feel that this shouldn’t be a news story and that there isn’t a need to publish it. Want she already fired?

That is not a decision you get to make.

Keep ducking the obvious double standard though.
That societal double standard in no way absolves this lady from what she said or the consequences of her own actions.

I'm just not sure she needs her life destroyed for using a word that is used 100 times in a song.
With the R at the end, the context she was using. That word is not used in songs.

Maybe we can make up some more. Personally I find the white people slurs hilarious. Not even getting into the white ethnic ones like polack, kraut, limey, Frog, potato monkey, father-haver, etc

Don’t you dare slander the good people of Ouachita. I have a friend from there and to compare him to the actions of this lady is like comparing Honey Crisp Apples to Red Delicious apples. Totally different.

How bad was the rest of this lady’s Monday knowing she sent that text?

Damn, she used the hard “A”
I would have gone with the defense “it was supposed to say ****rd day, as in a day to be frugal and sparingly use resources to combat climate change since climate change disproportionately affects minorities. MLK would have wanted that.”
ETA damn they censor a word that is defined as being tight or frugal with resources? I don’t think that has any racial connotations or background

You’re asking the posters to prove to you that racial slurs said or texted by minorities don’t get reported as statewide news stories.
They are asking you to believe a hypothetical is fact. Nobody will ever convince the other side in this situation.

I don't think anyone has argued it isn't or she doesn't deserve to be fired, only that this shouldn't be a newsworthy event. Not arguing she didn't open herself up to it, just that when you get into doxxing and public shaming on top of termination and loss of pension or anything else the punishment may be beyond the action. Id even add the coach running to the media in an attempt to dox her isn't someone you want in the work place.
