New millage that was past for S&WB

I don't know how anyone can vote yes to give the S&WB more money.

You'd be hard pressed to find a more corrupt department in the city and that's saying something.

yes mine was $350

quote:

New Orleans has begun sending "supplementary" bills to property owners is that voters in December — whether or not they realized it would mean a second bill this year — approved a new tax for the city's firefighters, both to shore up their pension fund and to provide back pay owed to many of them as a result of a lawsuit the city lost.

Also included in the new bill is a tax renewal dedicated to drainage projects.

Neither tax was included in the 2017 tax bills sent to property owners in December, for payment by Jan. 31, because voters and the City Council had to approve both taxes before the city could collect them.

I was looking at the tax assessors website yesterday and was snooping around what others assessments are.....I can promise you I will be down at City Hall disputed mine as soon as the new tax assessments are sent out in a couple months.

It's funny seeing the fire fighters at the Girod street station hard legging over the girls leaving yoga.

Property tax, because even after you've bought and paid for something, you still owe more.

Property tax should be illegal. I wonder how many people in Washington would be in favor of forever paying a property tax on the land they purchased? Land like that in the Louisiana Purchase??? I don't see the country warming up to paying the French each year on something we already own. But hey, if it's good for the goose...

I believe this is due to the vote we had last year regarding a pay increase to the fire departments. Everybody thought it was a great idea, which it is because they're awesome, but to pay for the raises they are taxing home owners.

I don't mind paying property taxes where I live. It weeds out the trash. Say if some shite brick kid inherited a 900k house but had a job where he made 40k a year. A large chunk of his/her salary would goto property tax and he would not be able to afford to live there.

Someone's gotta pay for Mitch having to use them for statue removal.

You REALLY think that "private donations" were used for that?

It's for the money the city owes the fire fighters. But let's focus on mitch doing great things for the city.

The Sewage and Water Board needs to be waterboarded.

Boil water alerts every year that seem to last forever, total incompetance, etc.
