1. Figure out the exact truck model and trim level you want.
2. Search for it nationwide on Cars.com.
3. Call the dealer with the lowest price, verify, and hold it with a small credit card deposit.
4. Buy a Southwest ticket, fly the frick up there and drive the vehicle home.
Saved me a fortune on my truck.

When 99% of people are sold on what they pay a month and not total price, this is what you get baw.

UAW's days are done. 20 years ago, a plant worker at a GM operation or affiliate would start around $20/hr. Now they start at $16/hr with significantly less benefits. I don't think labor costs are the major driver of vehicle pricing, but I'm willing to be wrong.

Congrats on the Nissan Altima
I'll happily drive a Nissan Altima that I paid cash for and won't really care if some idiot texting and driving in Houston traffic rear ends me.

I saw a 2008 z71 1500 with 84k miles go for 16,800 at auction yesterday, will probably retail for 21k.
Used vehicle prices are ridiculous right now too.

But a 6000 plus # SUV take the Farm Tax Seduction on it and let the Gov’t reimburse you for buying it new.

They're not. EPA regulations on fuel efficiency and lending practices are really driving up prices.

Hate all you want but I got a vehicle that is going to last me as long as I need for a decent price....

Do you people look down on someone without a truck?
If someone is driving a Mazda 6 or Subaru Crosstrek, do you make fun of them for only spending 20 grand on a new car?

If you tell me your budget, I can recommend a good vehicle in that price range. From 2k to 30k.

It's more like, how does a person live the life of a normal man and not need a truck.
Can't haul crawfish pots in a crosstek

I get 38mpg in my 4 banger Accord and drive about 40k miles a year.
I need a truck 2-3 times a year. Renting one from Enterprise on Airline @ Jefferson costs about $40 a day.

Not everyone needs to haul jambalaya pots, campers, boats, camping equipment, furniture, etc often enough to justify the increased cost and decreased fuel efficiency I guess.

I view my vehicle as a need not a luxury. Bought a 2016 Mazda CX-5 last year with 30,000 miles for about $17,000. It's nothing fancy, but looks nice and gets the job done. Should last many years after the payments are done.

I went to Kalamazoo Michigan to buy my new 4Runner. They were significantly cheaper than anything I found local.
I found exactly what I was looking for on the internet, called them and said drop the price by the cost of the plane ticket and we have a deal. The guy said, "he'll, I'll even pay for your gas to get back".
I landed they picked me up and I was on the road in about a half hour. The guy asked whi I came all the way up there and I replied it was strictly price. He said that the Toyota dealers get their cars from a distributor that services the Southeast. The guy in Michigan get them straight from the factory. I saved about 4K off of the best price I could get here.
I bought a 2017 4Runner 4x4 premium with third row seating for right at 36k. Locally they were asking more for a 2016 stripped down SR5, non premium without the third row seat.
Go to cargurus.com and search new cars. Find your cheapest advertised price in the country and go get it.

I imagine it's one where the farmer's wife and daughter double up on the tax man to avoid an audit.
