Buying new vehicles is a waste of money. You lose 15% of the value the moment it is driven off the lot. But some people are more worried about having “new” and impressing others than getting good value. To each his own.

’m getting sick of shopping around for 45k+ MSRPs for a 2018 truck or SUV. You end up financing 50+ when it’s all said and done.

I do flooring orders where people just write me a check for that amount.

Thinking about just paying cash for a used 4Runner and rolling with it until the wheels fall off. Screw a $650 payment for 7 years. End semi-rant. Yea I’m trashy.
The correct answer is above except for the trashy part.

You can get a crew cab, V8 pickup from any of the American Manufacturers for about $30k. It really doesn't have to be ridiculous. The problem is it's so easy to say I need leather,4x4, big media screen, big tires etc and that's why so many people end up with $60k trucks.

This. The people who constantly bitch and moan about the increase in price never mention that the level of amenity has also significantly increased.

Can this thread be a bannable offense, starting today? It’s really tired.

I got the wife a loaded Yukon SLT last month. We looked at new ones with everything she wanted in it and best price we found was 62k. I stumbled upon a used 2016 model, same as the 2018 we were looking at that had 6,823 miles in immaculate condition and clean car fax for $45,900. I got them down to 45k, then had15k of equity in the trade in that went towards the purchase. Another 5k cash down, and I’m out the door with financing on 27k for 36 months after TT&L for a basically brand new Yukon SLT loaded to the gills.

So yes, piss on purchasing new and losing your arse when you drive it off the lot.

Try searching on Autotrader for the vehicle you want with about 10-30K miles. Start at 50 miles from you location and keep moving out. I ended up using my airline miles to fly to Tampa for my truck but I found what I was looking for and saved 7K. I even tried to negotiate with local dealers using the quoted price but they couldn’t come close to what I was offered.

alk around the used lots. Not much cheaper for a 3 year old truck with 100k miles

And 3 year old cars on lots are typically:

1. Lemons-owner said frick it

2. Poor people who over spent- frick regular maintenance

3. Lease- let me run this shite ragged before I turn it in.

It’s cheap credit and long finance terms.

If everyone had to pay cash, then most of the expensive options wouldn’t even be available. When writing out a check for the total amount, you find a lot of accessories are actually unnecessary. Lol

Cheap credit and long term financing are a lot like income taxes. Writing out a check for a lump sum at the end of the year instead of payroll withdrawal every month is the only reason DC hasn’t been burned to ground.

People no longer look at how much the truck is. They focus more on the monthly payment and say to themselves “yeah I can afford that”.

The best way to buy a new vehicle is as follows:

Choose the vehicle you want. Have five dealers prepare a bid for it. Go buy the best priced one.

No hassle

Wrong.

I agree. The prices simply reflect the outrageous amounts idiots are willing to pay. It’s still easy to get an affordable truck if you try. The stickers are crazy but no one pays that except for morons.

A lot of people say this, but it’s funny how you can’t find anything like this on a lot. You’d think if enough people felt this way, they’d offer such a vehicle. I asked for a truck with vinyl floors and vinyl seats electric package and the dealer laughed. Told me everyone buying a truck wants the luxury package.
Those of us who want to use a truck like a truck are SOL.

It’s not hard finding an F150 XL or Chevy Work Truck.
