Was one of the best showmen I've seen on his good nights.

Skipped his last tour after the incoherent videos and his guitarist dying on it but when i saw him bumping back up to tipitinas this go around I figured there was a chance he'd gotten things back on track for a little bit

One of the GOAT front vocalist in a band imo.

Not really. He just lucked into being in one hell of a good band for a while.

Army Of Anyone (the other three dudes in STP plus Richard Patrick, the singer from Filter) were pretty fricking awesome. I always thought it was a super douche move by the others in STP when they decided to go for the money grab and reunite with Weiland that last time versus following up on the one excellent AOA album they released.

Saw him 5-6 years ago in Tempe. He must have been sober at the time cause he put on an amazing show. Glad I got to experience a good live STP show.

Sad news for the music world.

Heroin (I assume) gets another one.

Such a deal with the devil. Absolutely a (one of many) fuel for rock and roll awesomeness, but tremendous cost.

Dude was a brilliant artist. I wasn't really a fan of his, but went to a STP show at the Hard Rock just because it was a major band and a night out the house. Ended up being one of the best concerts I've been to, and I've been to a lot. That night I bought their greatest hits CD when I got home. Sad.

I enjoy STP- not my favorite or anything, but the live shows I saw with him at his best we're definitely among the best I've ever seen.

One of the best front men of any band from the 90's on. So glad I got to see him in his prime. First at State Palace Theater & Voodoo Fest(Maybe around 2000). Am I surprised by this? Not in the least.

Could not agree more. He was great that night. Saw them in BR at the River Center a while later, and they were really good then.

He was one of the great frontmen. Whoever it is claiming that Shannon Hoon was better, or BM was better than STP, is nuts.
