Last time we were in New Orleans (2018) we took US 90 as far as Biloxi heading home. Crossing at Ft Mccomb and then the drive with Pontchartrain on the left and St Catherines on the right was really pretty. I hope those bridges get fixed sometime in the near future.

Take Hwy 68 to Jackson, La then come around Hwy 10 to St. Francisville. Spend some time in St. Francisville and if you up to it make a trip to Lake Rosemound and come back through Sligo Rd.

Was coming here to say this. I would recommend driving north towards Woodville, MS, and heading for the Tunica Hills Wildlife Management Area. That area of the state does not look like Louisiana. Rolling hills. Especially beautiful in the fall.

second this. an over water tour would be even better

additionally, anything close to MS river near plantation homes south of BR (white castle to Donaldsonville ish) is nice this time of year . The azaleas should still be in bloom.

The White Lightning Road (LA 146) is about a 40 minute drive between Vienna and Homer. Lots to see but the driver needs to keep his eyes on the road. Curvy and hilly route that will dump you off at the antebellum courthouse on the town square in Homer. There has been some R-O-W clearing in recent years so its not what it once was. I used it often in the past and on one trip I had to come to a complete stop due to an 8-point buck standing in the middle of the road. Had to blow my horn to get him to move.

Baton Rouge to Opelousas Hwy 190

Plenty of red, white and blue lights and two speeding tickets as souvenirs.

Longleaf Scenic Trail Byway through Kisatchie National Forest is my new go to. Also the Longleaf Vista Trail and Day Use area is the most underrated outdoor spot in the state.

Seriously?

Zachary Taylor Parkway - "Louisiana's Military History Parkway".

LA 1 from Alexandria to New Roads, cross the Mississippi River, then LA 10 form St. Francisville to Poplarville, MS:

Neat stuff to see along the way, nice drive.

LINK

Another fun scenic ride is along Bayou Teche, LA 31 from Breaux Bridge to New Iberia, then LA 182 to Morgan City. LINK
