Underrated scary bridge is the one over the ship channel leading from Sulphur into Hackberry.

Ah, that would be Ellender Bridge.

It’s also super fun time when it’s raining, cause you have a chance to skid and lose control on the gratings that have a lot of patchwork.

Solomons Island bridge in Maryland. Inlaws used to live there.

Narrow 2 lane, tall arse bridge with strong winds sometimes. It's tall enough to allow large ships to go under.

From that day on I’ve found it increasingly dibilitating to drive over bridges.

I’ve got the same thing. Drove across many bridges without incident in my 20s (Chesapeake Bay bridge several times). At about 30 years old I drove across the bridge to Astoria, Oregon and I didn’t think I was going to make it to the other end. Since then I’ve avoided bridges and get nervous with overpasses. What you are describing is exactly what I feel.

Felt like the lanes were narrower on that bridge.

Old bridge from Charleston SC to the islands. It was like three Huey P. Long bridges taped together. Replaced now.

I had almost the same thing happen to me and I’m still struggling. Worse part for me is I live on the west side of BR so I pretty much have to cross a bridge at least weekly.

I fished a bass tournament at Bayou Segnette every Wednesday during the summer months for years. I had to pull my 19’ Bass Cat across the old Huey P in 4 O’clock traffic all those years.

The year I quit fishing it was the first year the new Huey P was completed…

Pulling a wide arse bass boat across that narrow arse bridge was always a pleasure…

The Huey P Long Bridge before they widened it.

For those that’s from Avoyelles Parish, walking the train bridge in Simmesport at night will test your nerves

The old Cooper river bridges in Charleston, SC. One was 20’ wide 2 lanes with no median or shoulders/curbs

This. Built in 1929 and before they replaced it scored a 4 out of 100 on some DOT safety test.

There’s a YouTube video of somebody making the trip before it was demolished. Even watching it’s hard to appreciate how narrow, exposed and high up you were on that thing.

Oddly enough, no. Bridges, overpasses, and occasionally busy interstates

I’ll add 2 small bridges that haven’t been mentioned:
1) The 2 lane, narrow as frick, Hwy 90 bridge going over the Rigolets
2) The St Claude Ave Bridge in NOLA and how it splits into 4 narrow lanes

The old side is still freaky as a four lane. I hate that bridge.

Lake Charles I-10 bridge about 15 yrs ago when there was a national scare that a lot of bridges would collapse because a big one fell down up north somewhere. I think I drove it doing 150 mph like somehow going fast would save me

Every now and then the Red River floods like mad, and the water, normally a trickle 150 feet down below, is raging fast up to 10 feet below the bridge deck of the I-35 bridge between OK & TX. It’s like, do we really want to drive over this thing??

The Jimmie Davis bridge in Shreveport isn’t necessarily the scariest ever. But it definitely feels like you’re risking your life every time you drive over it.
