As someone that's been through a few wildfires, I can tell you that rain often does more harm than good. Yeah the water helps knock the fire down to the ground. But there's not enough to put it out and the winds that can accompany the rain will make it worse.

Pretty sure I saw on the news last night that this was caused by arson. Some guy shooting flares out of his window. Not sure if these are the same fires, but I do recall hearing that in the background when the news was on last night. Absolutely absurd if true the devastation he caused.
