Tv's can have dead pixels, buggy software, nasty dirty screen effect, backlight bleed, etc. You won't really know unless unbox one at your house and start fiddling around with it.

Did he say that the tv had issues?

Or did he say:

I called in for them to pick up a tv I dont want anymore

OP is the type of person who doesn't return his shopping cart.

You’re one of those people who use stores as a rental service. Lemme guess, you rented the tv for the saints game.

I don't know the OP but I've known people that he seems to mirror.

It's just a different kind of cheap person. Some cheap people are stingy with their money and act that way.

But, then there are people who when they do spend their money expect service above and beyond what they should.

What kind of trash bag buys a TV, which can easily be seen in person to research picture quality, then returns it?

The same people who order an item, put their damaged item in the box, and return it.

Or use an item for 29 days and open a return on day 30

Selling on Amazon for nearly 2 years now, and the number of people committing return fraud is absurd.

People talk about inflation raising prices, which they have, but they don't account for losses from return fraud, which has gotten statistically worse YoY for the past decade, causing price hikes.

Amazon has become trash for electronics, not counting actual, real, name brands.

The fake positive reviews are OOC.

Even small electronics are junk.

When did we decide that a 10% failure rate was acceptable?

(Rhetorical question, tbh)

I bought this new tv with thoughts that I couldn't fix my old one that got hit by a power surge. I ended up fixing it after the new one arrived, so I just asked Best Buy to do what their website said.

Their website is “BestBuy,” not “BestHangOntoThisACoupleDaysAtOurExpense.”

The week after Superbowl Sunday is the biggest TV return week of the year.

OP is the type of person who would order the complementary water with lemon and ask for extra lemon so they could make lemonade in their cup.

Retailers need to start cracking down on returns and go back to the refund policies of the 90’s

Only give full refunds for items returned in unopened packaging. Items that are defective or damaged out the box can be returned and exchanged for the same item. Any other return reason once the packaging has been opened should be either store credit only or hit with a restocking fee. It’ll take care of the return fraud issue quickly, but no major retailer is going to do it because it’ll put them at a disadvantage since their competitors still have lax return policies.

the online model prevents you from doing that. People are way less likely to buy shite they can't see in person if they can't return it. So they kind of have to take the good with the bad

Yes but 30 days to return something is open for abuse. If you can't decide on an item within two weeks of receiving it, then you are a moron.

The products I sell on Amazon aren't as open to the "rental return" abuse like some products, thankfully, but I have still dealt with it.

Clothing and tools have to be abused the worst of people "renting items" I suspect.

The worst I deal with is people buying from me to steal parts or replace their damaged items.

I sell name-brand faucets and a while back had someone return a faucet that had a manufactured date from 5 years ago, which had the copper pipes turning green from corrosion. They replaced their old one with my new one. I refused the refund, and the guy simply filed a dispute with his CC, which I still had to fight.

People are scum

We returned a tv years ago because it ended up being a little too big for the living room. Look God awful gawdy once we set up... Went down a size.

Don't say this on the Tech Board. They claim no TV can ever be too big.
