So you think they would have asked for 6M bitcoins?

No, from the start, they said they provided a bitcoin wallet and that investigators checked it and it was a hot wallet.

The fact that this is claiming they want to be paid in USD goes against the original story and everything known up to this point and makes 0 sense when you come to anonymity.

I clarified unless their note said " we want the equivalent of 6m USD in bitcoin", which makes 0 sense even if they are foreign. So some foreigners are savvy enough to pull off a kidnapping, mask their emails, work in bitcoin, but they think the family in the US is going to convert to anything but USD?

The only other explanation is they said that the emails have been written by AI and thats likely something AI would do

So, an old engine is better than no engine?

I understand there has been no proof of life. This won’t end well.

Yep. At this point I’m wondering if they ever find the body, even if they figure out who did it.

I don’t believe this was a kidnapping for ransom. I doubt the real perp is involved in any communication with the family. Sad.

I agree, likely scammers who didn't do any kidnapping.

Why else would you take an old woman’s body?

This. This makes me believe it is obviously a ruse. Personally, I think the brother in law killed her and freaked out causing this "ransom" trail. Whoever took her was in the house for 45 minutes which is also very strange for a kidnapping, planned murder, etc.

I don’t have any idea what the motive could be.

Well if she woke up they had a witness. So they had to get rid of the witness. Maybe they chose to kill her somewhere else to reduce evidence. Maybe they didn't want to kill anyone, but realized she was a witness and panicked and kidnapped her and since then have come to the grave realization they had to kill her.

Regardless, I see no way she's alive, but hoping she is.

He doesn't strike me as very clever at all. He is either hiding his brilliance well or the luckiest dude that ever tried to pull some shite off. I don't think he is either.

My theory is that Nancy's pool boy came by for a late-night visit and tried to PIIHB, there was struggle and Nancy strangled him to death, but she got a bloody nose.
She loaded his body in his truck and dumped him in the desert, then she panicked and went on the run.
Now they're trying an elaborate ruse so she can come back home.

Whats the "news" with TMZ saying that the bitcoin wallet in the demands doesn't have funds in it?

Are they saying the Guthries didn't pay? That its a new wallet with no activity, so empty? What are they eluding to?

Very plausible but if the reports are true, how were they able to know information that only the kidnapper would know?

I wish Op or front page would update the details.

So my understanding of the time line is this:

9:48pm BIL drops off mom
9:50 garage door shuts
2:30am ish video system goes down
Heart monitor looses connection with phone overnight at like 4am?
11AM friends check house because she isn't answering phones and find a likely crime scene with blood

So assumption is her phone was connected to her heart monitor and both were at the house alive at 9:50pm?

ETA: Also assume since her heart monitor connects to her phone, and her phone never left the house then she never left the house until her heart monitor lost signal to her phone?

I believe she died after the kidnapping. Someone is trying to extort money, I beginning to believe they are not connected at all.
